Anxiously excited to begin 2020-21 year with Distance Learning. Im looking forward to using the Tech Ed knowledge I learned this summer for my freshman biology students. It’s all very new, but... We got this! Go Bulldogs! #csubted
I anonymously surveyed my students to see if they respond well to my teaching style. I also asked open ended questions about their likes/dislikes and what they would like to see change in the classroom. This helped reach them at their level. #csubted#csubedte4200
I appreciate all my peers sharing their experiences with how they utilize technology in their classrooms or how they will use different platforms to enrich their content. I’m tech-hesitant so everyone’s comments are extra helpful. #csubted#csubedte4200
@uledesma90@techteach_csub We totally wrote the same thing but that just solidifies our point. Students need explicit direction and rubrics offer that - especially when dealing with partial work or not showing worked out equations. If you do this work, it will yield this grade. #EDTE4100Summer2020TC13
@techteach_csub Rubrics can help provide students with explicit expectations of what is expected of them. For math, the biggest obstacle is not showing work. A rubric can explain: no credit, partial credit, full credit as it pertains to showing worked out examples. #EDTE4100Summer2020TC13
@adrey93 @techteach_csub What a super great idea! This would be great to use for vocabulary with a notecard vibe but virtual. I haven’t heard of a word cloud before, but I’m a fan for any idea that gets kids engaged with reading! #EDTE4200Summer2020TC12
@techteach_csub I’ve always struggled with reading comprehension so I think it would be nice to use Prezi to answer questions about an excerpt. It could also be good for literacy with graphs as well. #EDTE4200Summer2020TC11
@uledesma90@techteach_csub I like the idea of an exit ticket! Thanks for sharing the picture too. What a great way to make sure everyone is on the same page with the lesson. Plus you know what you need to review the next day. #EDTE4100Summer2020TC11
@techteach_csub Last year I used Google Forms & EdPuzzle for formative assessment. My colleagues used kahoot, but since I was unfamiliar with it, I stayed away. Having the opportunity to play with it during quarantine, I’ll be using all 3 platforms next year as well. #EDTE4100Summer2020TC11
@hilmil31@techteach_csub Definitely! I have found that my students performed better when we were in quarantine and I think it’s because they could pause lecture and rewind if necessary. Such a neat tool to have #EDTE4100Summer2020TC10
@techteach_csub I saw someone else post previously to use Google Slides as a note card to mimic a quizlet type of studying. Perhaps best in a group. I also like using Flipgrid to help improve students study skills by creating short vids. #EDTE4100Summer2020TC10
@Jessica63112798@techteach_csub I have heard positive things about Prodigy, and the kids seem to like it as well. I haven’t used it all too much as I teach science, but whenever students were done with my lesson I allowed them to do Prodigy; they can always improve their math skills. #EDTE4100Summer2020TC9
@Brenda79090996 @stormmborrn @techteach_csub Yes. I totally love EdPuzzle. I feel like all I do is talk about EdPuzzle on here but it really is such an amazing platform. It keeps students engaged and they prefer it over typical slideshow lecture... and their improved grades reflect that! #EDTE4100Summer2020TC9
@techteach_csub Flocabulary would be great for helping with memory. It’s a platform that uses music and song to help with concepts K-12. Side note: I like to use jeopardy style game in class as form. assmt and the students are very engaged in that. #EDTE4100Summer2020TC9
@adrey93 @msgmendivil@sandlesd I’m having a “Love Hate” relationship with the character limit. It’s nice to force responders to be clear and concise, but I would love to be able to say more sometimes. All in all, it’s better to curtail my chatty behavior #EDTE4200
@jwood68570197@sandlesd I agree with your reasoning for taking a break from social media. I was worried about the same thing as well, but since I only keep professional accounts as followers rather than old HS friends - it’s less overwhelming than anticipated #EDTE4200
@sandlesd I like using twitter. Utilizing hashtags in order to find student responses faster is ingenious. One thing I don’t like is the character limit, but that’s just because I can’t ever stop talking. Rating: 9/10 #EDTE4200
@Lilyquezada24 @sandlesd I look forward to using Flipgrid more for standard comprehension assessments by having students make quick recap videos. As Einstein said “if you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough.” #EDTE4200
@janafancypants@sandlesd I completely agree. I want to use Quizzezz and Kahoot more next year now that I feel a bit more comfortable. Using those platforms decrease students’ test anxiety dramatically since it has a “game” vibe. #EDTE4200
