Ms Zosangkim, a teacher at the local Hermon Dew English Junior High School, the local village school in Zairawn, a Hmar tribal village in Manipur, was a Mother of three.

She was married to Ngurthansang, they had 3 kids aged 9, 7 and 3.
[Hmars is ethnically related to the Kuki-Zo people, caught in conflict with the non-tribal Meitei community in the State since May 3, 2023.]

On Thursday (November 7, 2024) night suspected
#MeiteiMilitant_ArambaiTenggol attacked the village, which is about 7 km from district headquarters Jiribam, at around 9 p.m. The CM of Manipur #BirenSingh belongs to this community.

The attackers shot Zosangkim Hmar in the leg, captured her, before burning her alive.

The charred body of the woman was recovered inside the family’s home on Friday (November 8, 2024) morning.

Manipur’s ethnic violence has claimed the lives of 250 people and displaced at least 60,000 others since May 2023.

POSTMORTEM REPORT:
The post-mortem examination of Mrs. Zosangkim (31), a resident of Zairawn Village in Jiribam, who was tragically murdered by Meitei militants on November 8, 2024, uncovers harrowing evidence of extreme torture.
The findings indicate that she sustained three gunshot wounds, one of which penetrated her waist, a 5 cm nail was forcibly driven into her left thigh, her skull was fractured, and both her left hand and right thigh were severed. Following this horrific ordeal, she was ultimately set on fire alive.

Why is there a lack of media coverage regarding such egregious human rights violations? Why has the government remained inactive even after five days have passed? Are our lives and dignity deemed less important than those of others? How long must we endure such severe infringements on our human rights and dignity?

श्रीमती जोसांगकिम हमार की लीक हुई पोस्टमार्टम रिपोर्ट को देखकर, कोई भी व्यक्ति मणिपुर में जारी हिंसा में मीतेई आतंकवादियों के हाथों पीड़िता और अन्य सभी जो जातीय पीड़ितों द्वारा सहन की गई बर्बरता और यातना के स्तर को समझ सकता है। अंतिम राय में स्पष्ट रूप से कहा गया है कि मौत का कारण उसके अपने शरीर के धुएं और लपटों से हुआ है, जिससे बिना किसी संदेह के यह निष्कर्ष निकलता है कि उसे तब जला दिया गया था जब वह अभी भी जीवित थी और सांस ले रही थी। टूटी हड्डियों और गायब अंगों से स्पष्ट रूप से दिखाई देने वाली सभी शारीरिक यातनाओं के बाद, उन्होंने उसे मरने से पहले ही आग के हवाले कर दिया।
