@cathshiang@LukeBornheimer@UrbisAustralia You misunderstand. Bikes and scooters allow more people to visited then cars, a patio increases the floor space. Meter rate generally doesn't go to the business. All this is situational of course, it needs to be in an area where people want to bike or sit on a patio.
@vyassaran I was always under the understanding that most of the drive is owned by a bunch of old Italians who refuse to sell and keep rent reasonable.
Funny enough Starbucks moved in and went out of business. Guess they didn't have the same hook up.
@sarahblyth@mssinenomine The program was taken over by Rogers and while they maintain existing hotspots I'm unsure if it's a program that they are continuing.
@sarahblyth@mssinenomine I work for Mobi. Unfortunately the stations themselves don't have the ability to provide wifi. We did advertise free wifi but at that time after a station was installed Shaw would find an adjacent property owner that was willing to host a Shaw Go hotspot.
@mSanterre@VisionZeroYVR@christineeboyle@BrianVMontague@Vote4ABC Thanks for the paper! This was conducted on an interstate with a 65mph/100km speed limit though. If your reaction time is being tested, 100km vs 120 km isn't a big difference. I found this study review though which leans in to cameras: https://t.co/WN6kgDfMvy
@mSanterre@VisionZeroYVR@christineeboyle@BrianVMontague@Vote4ABC NYC used to only operate speed cameras to ticket from 6am-10pm on weekdays. You can see the clear impact on traffic speeds in the below chart. Reduced traffic speed reduces casualties. It's the equivalent of placing a traffic cop at the intersection, freeing them up.
@FP_Champagne With respect minister, this will not impact theft and negatively impact innovation. I use a flipper daily at work to troubleshoot issues with NFC and RFID communications, it doesn't have the ability to steal cars. The onus is on auto makers to improve security.
@caroltreardon That's a bit much. :) I'm lucky to work at a place that values bike lanes and parks. I just wanted to add context to your first comment.
Maybe we should have kept quiet, but I think it's worth expressing our specific pain points even if other factors far outweigh these.
@caroltreardon That said we are approaching this from the issue of growing Bike Share and pain points we have working with two organizations that don't always communicate the best. I'm sure there are other ways to improve the status quo but this is the lever we have.
@caroltreardon In retrospect we could have been louder on this issue but our position is clear, bike share needs complete cycling infrastructure to be successful.
In regards to the Park Board, we think this motion will have positive outcomes for bike share.
@slnazareth Hi Sujay, If you send me the location and time that you saw this I can pass this info to our Ops Manager to follow up on. There'll be a loading zone alternative nearby for the van to park at.
@Baritone_BC@PeterMeiszner@mobi_bikes@limebike We've looked pre-pandemic into a connection at Park Royal as there are great transit connections there. Maybe a conversation to open once the North Shore decides on the next phase the pilot that expires in a year. For now though, sea bus is your best option.
