PhD student studying biodiversity change in freshwater fish communities at the @univofstandrews. Interested in biodiversity, ecology and fish traits & biology.
Had a great time yesterday joining the first FSBI PhD day! Varied & amazing #research presented. Such an impressive group and a real asset to @TheFSBI. A workshop on machine learning by @BenWilliamsSci was particularly enlightening/useful! Being at @zsllondonzoo was also a treat.
Phylogenetic analysis of fusiliers from the #Laccadives reveals a new species + two new distribution records! Caesio idreesi is named after colleague Idrees Babu for his outstanding contributions to marine biodiversity of Lakshadweep
Just out in @TheFSBI@chinmaykar520
Stay tuned for an important open-access database of land-use impacts on freshwater biodiversity from Minghua Shen from @idiv. Poster preview here 👇#gfoe2023
Also massive thanks to the @TheFSBI for funding my PhD and giving me the opportunity not only to carry out my own project but also to be part of exciting collaborations like this (many featuring 🐠🐟🐠🐟)!!!
📢Really happy to share our new paper “Widespread shifts in body size within populations and assemblages” published today in @ScienceMagazine@NewsfromScience#ScienceResearch

Going to see #Meg2TheTrench this weekend? Me too!
But before you do, check out my new article in @ConversationUK where I talk about #megalodon ecology, the film's creative liberties with it, and the kinds of future shark films I'd like to see. https://t.co/oW3VRsEIT0 🦈
Massive congratulations to all talk and poster prize winners from #FSBI2023. They were amazing! However, the standard was incredibly high so everyone should feel proud 👏
Today was my second time presenting at the @TheFSBI conference. A great opportunity to highlight my research to such an inspiring network of scientists ! 🐟🐠
Superstar @TheFSBI Huntingford Medal Winner @SofiaGracAranha giving an amazing presentation on deep sea #shark trophic ecology watched on by her 2 month old baby. Everyone is in awe 🙌👏
The power of the celebrity! @TheFSBI medal winner @LabRajeev showed stunning images and telling wonderful stories about India's diverse and mysterious subterranean fishes...and how their profile was quickly elevated when Leo took an interest!
We couldn't be more grateful to the amazing @fishscienceart for the many beautiful things she designed for #FSBI2023. Such a great artist and science communicator. Additional kudos to @lamb_ecology (also at @CefasGovUK) for the brilliant conference logo 🙌
Exciting find by a team of local naturalists, including several of our club members. Such a fascinating species. Learn more here: https://t.co/vBw8gOS3w3
And that's a wrap on the 2023 #Buccoo#Bioblitz! 🥁Over 700 species found (& counting) in just 24 hrs. 🥳Thanks to the more than 120 volunteers who joined use for our 1st in person bioblitz since 2019, our sponsors @WePutYouFirst & thanks for welcoming us, southwest #Tobago!
The blue species is Letis iphianasse and the brown one Feigeria herilia. A catalogue of witch moths in #TrinidadandTobago is available for anyone curious: https://t.co/V0wcpBF2Lr
One of last week’s highlights: learning about witch moths 🪄🧙♀️🧹 through two encounters in the corridor & bathroom of my halls of residence in #Trinidad!
These stunning #moths are from the tribe Thermesiini and both had a wingspan equivalent to my hand width!
🦠Thank you to Lucas Mathieu for a fascinating talk giving new insights into the mysterious origins of our immune system… who would have thought that it may have to do with our gut?
