If they cannot even fly the Pride flag, we should all be worried about how they support 2SLGBTQIA students & families in general especially those subjected to harassment and violence. As someone who was gay bashed at my Catholic high school, this choice by the board is disturbing
Alberta, every hour of this campaign has been a blast!
I am blown away by the welcome we have received, from one end of this great province to the other.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you. 🧡
And tomorrow, let's get out and vote! 🗳️🍊✅
„It's about imagining things which should have happened but didn't and inviting you to join in the game. If you can play with the past like that, you can play games with the present and the future too”
@moscotweets@RBeilfuss Also, the Canada council still has a playwright’s sustenance fee at $500/week. Less if “emerging”. There isn’t room for everything when we don’t value the people who make it (and that includes dramaturgs/playwrights hired on to adapt classics)
During the last writers’ strike The Apprentice was developed starring a man who would go on to dream of more and more airtime.
PAY THE WRITERS FOR GOD’S SAKE AND ALL THAT IS GOOD PLEASE FUCKING PAY THE WRITERS.

I’m disappointed seeing the convos of theatre-makers in Canada who hold firm to an idea that there is one way to experience theatre, and it needs to be "polite" and “respectful". These words are often coded with elitism, as are many instances in this article. Three antecdotes:
What is theatre etiquette like in Toronto? And is there a solution to people wanting to sing along at jukebox musicals? I explore those things and more in an article in @TorontoStar. https://t.co/WS6tCUx6Ta
@muckypawdotca I hear your frustration. Theatre is a communal experience, so our experience will be influenced by those around. Re ticket prices: hugely inaccessible & keep demographics from theatre. @jeremyoharris speaks/works on changing exclusionary structures:https://t.co/hXkMiLR4a5
Pricing on broadway for new shows for new audiences is a MAJOR issue. Not just because we have major economic disparity in our country but also because IF PPL HAVENT BEEN WELCOMED TO THESE SPACES WHY SHOULD THEY PAY PREMIUM PRICES TO BE IN THESE SPACES?
(1/3) Twitter’s own policy defines government-funded media as cases where the government “may have varying degrees of government involvement over editorial content,” which is clearly not the case with CBC/Radio-Canada.

@AytchAnd@glennsumi What I'm offering is that we often use terms like "polite" and "etiquette" to maintain theatre as an undemocratic, classist space. Our default is often culturally white. Of course, when injury is an issue, that's another story.
@Blackbird_2 I, too, have worked a lot of live events. And I've also made difficult calls when safety is a factor. I'm more curious about how we have set up theatre spaces (especially indoors), to dictate one mode of behaviour, that's often coded in class/race.
@michaelcwheeler Yuuuup. There's a cultural supremacy that's connected to this kind of behaviour. It also bleeds into the way theatre-makers create art. So we end up having theatre with less risk, less play, and less audience.
