We have a level 2 risk of severe weather across the Plains today, where widespread thunderstorms are expected to form into clusters as the evening progresses. This will allow for a threat of damaging winds, large hail, as well as the potential for a few tornadoes, some of which could be strong.
There remains uncertainty as to where the placement of storms will be as it hinges on how the remnant activity from last night's severe weather continues to progress. The potential for tornadoes this evening relies on if storms this evening can organize on the nose of a strengthening low-level jet before they grow upscale into a larger cluster producing primarily damaging winds and hail overnight.
Elsewhere, scattered storms could develop later today driven by mid-level shortwaves and westerly flow, bringing a isolated threat of damaging winds and large hail, although an isolated tornado or two cannot ruled out, especially in the lower Great Lakes.
Before today's severe weather threat unfolds, I just want to take the time to thank you all for 10,000 followers. I know I'm a bit late, but the growth my account has seen over the past few days is unbelievable.
In 2020 I wanted to open an account where I could upload live pictures of notable radar signatures, so weather enthusiasts could access a digital library of thunderstorm radar imagery. However, I wanted the account to feel more inclusive and informative, and that's when I had the idea of utilising these screenshots to inform the general public about severe weather that is currently or may soon be affecting their region. I never imagined that six years later I would amass such a huge following.
I want to offer a huge thank you to everyone who follows and relies on me. And if you're new here, welcome! I try to post as much as I can about any severe weather threats looming on the horizon. I hope you find the updates useful ❤️

It’s hard to believe that a mock heatwave presentation just a few years ago, to illustrate how hot 2050 would be, is reality already. Or maybe it’s not hard to believe.
Summer solstice–the start of astronomical summer–was this morning at 4:24 a.m. EDT. The hottest parts of summer are still weeks away, but this year’s solstice does include above-normal temperatures in the Mid-Atlantic, Southern Plains, and Pacific Northwest.
They keep saying the summer solstice is the longest day of the year, but we’re pretty sure they’re all 24 hours long. *Ba-dum tss*
