@ThatYuta To avoid being awkward if I'm alone I take a drink, scan the room, try talking to someone alone or two people together. If this is too hard, I would go to the buffet and find a common point with someone there: "have you tried the bread? this cake looks yummy" 2/2
@ThatYuta You can talk about the event itself, or the host, and I feel like it's okay to say "I was invited by X and don't kow many people" (private party) or "I'm new to this field but I work in this and this" (business event)

@writerofscratch It sounds so great! Congratulations from a stranger haha but I'm in awe for both the class you took and the fact you completed the assignment in Japanese! Here, take these flowers! 🌻🌻 (I hope it doesn't sound ironic I'm new to Twitter)
@JakeinJapann I had the same experience (calling because I heard screaming and crashing), but the police went to their home without telling them who had called (I think they know though xD) and didn't even ring mine. I wonder if this has to see with my gender?
@t1000neverstops@MelindaJoe If you feel confident eating anything, ask "osusume arimasuka?" (do you have any recommendations?) and go for the ride! "Nomimono" is drinks and "tabemono" is food. You're good to go now :D
Merci @Mediapart !

🔴 Greta Thunberg, Vanessa Nakate, Sophie Binet...

@writerofscratch As you can see from the lack of visible women anyway (I've spotted 5 or 6 though!)
They really have nothing better to do than pick on people who already are not safe here. Good thing climate change is a scam! /s
@writerofscratch Today I was asked by an ojisan if I had a watch (obviously not, as he could tell from my bare wrists). That's my "interesting conversation starter of the day" ☕️
@writerofscratch But Tokyo has other things to give: it takes more time to go meet someone, but the work/networking opportunities are interesting as a freelance translator, and there are many cool things to do within the city. So many vegan meals available too <3
@writerofscratch I don't hate Tokyo but I used to live in Nagoya and it was way quieter. I could go to anywhere by walking since the city center was affordable and less extended, and the "morning" tradition allowed me to talk to people daily before even starting to work.
