Welcome to From the Roots 240! From our experience in mutual aid organizing in PG County, we realized that only offering services was not enough. As such, we are establishing a new organization that focuses on building power poor people can exercise around the places they live.
We are collecting donations for a comrade who is going through a number of tough life changes, including a pregnancy. If you have money to spare to help a young woman of color, please donate to Tricia510 on Venmo or $annemi20 with a 🧡. Thanks for your support!
The DC Alliance invites all DC area activists and organizers, and the community at-large to this teach-in that will address the several issues related to the police state and repression.
Come join us to discuss Community Control Over Police as a response to police violence.
CALL TO ACTION!
Residents have asked for neighbors to show up in solidarity as their camp is evicted this coming Friday! Bring a sign & a phone with full battery to document & share this inhumane treatment.

Join us tomorrow, Sunday December 4th at 5:30 PM at 8656 Colesville Road (The Filmore Silver Spring) to demand @RepRaskin and local government officials stop ignoring their constituents and step up to end the racist desecration of Moses Cemetery.
Let our ancestors rest in peace!
It's #GivingTuesday ! If you can spare a dollar or two, consider dropping us a donation to support our unhoused neighbors! (Or become a monthly donor!!!)
DC folks! There will be a vigil on Saturday, the 26th, at Malcolm X park at 5PM for the victims of Club Q. Please show up and support the LGBTQ+ community by standing up for your queer sibblings.
It's #HungerAndHomelessnessAwarenessWeek! All week we will share facts about chronic homelessness in DC.
We know that homelessness is a choice, a policy choice made by elected officials and the continuation of oppressive systems like capitalism and racism.
While the news cycles may have moved on, we are still working to help our new neighbors coming from Texas and Arizona.
To support this work, venmo @sanctuaryDMV with the note "Texas Solidarity."
Thank you to everyone who has and is helping us support our new neighbors.
people experiencing homelessness are some of D.C.'s most vulnerable yet least supported residents in the face of climate change. for the homeless reporting project, i looked at how increasingly extreme flooding impacts the city's unhoused residents:
