3D reconstructions of SR-uCT data reveal the complex growth history of Cpx crystals. An empirical relationship estimates the ∆T governing the crystallization of augitic Cpx erupted at Stromboli.
Manuscript rejected after 3 months because the journal couldn’t find ONE single reviewer. I hear this is an increasingly common issue across journals.
Academics, if we’re not supporting each other to move our fields forward, what are we even doing?

Last experiment of the year, this time seriously! Melting a carbonaceous chondrite fragment at 1500 deg under reducing conditions to simulate atmospheric entry of micrometeorites and examine volatile loss.
Students got excited for seeing this video of a vesiculation experiment performed using a hydrothermal moissanite cell, showing (literally) a magma breathing.
Last HP experiment of 2022: a smiley plagioclase undergoing dissolution in a hydrous basaltic melt. Maybe excited to go on holiday??? 🎄💫🌋
