@JosephKahn Casino was always underrated, it’s more playful and light on its feet so I don’t think people took it as seriously, but I feel it’s every bit as good as Goodfellas. I certainly enjoy watching Casino more.
@lolnahno@AlexSmith7145 2. Also horror has more more sub-genres and can be more visceral, plus fake blood and body parts is fun to mess with. Very little has to do with cost relative to other genres. Horror is just a “cooler” genre so to speak.
@lolnahno@AlexSmith7145 Horror is not necessarily cheaper. Dramas and comedies are usually people in rooms talking. Very cheap. Nolan made his thriller Following for $6K. Rodriguez’s action flick El Mariachi $7K. Horror just has the potential to have a higher ROI.
For the first time yesterday, I experienced the new @alamodrafthouse QR code ordering system and I can tell you it’s truly awful. Rather than making ordering food and drink more efficient, it actually adds steps to the process AND if you want to order additional items during the film you HAVE to open your phone. No, your cute reference to that irony in your How To Alamo video doesn’t negate how ridiculous this is. Please don’t cut corners with your staff and revert back to physical menus and order cards.
@coolcloudyskies@AVARY 2. There’s also nothing wrong with previz to plan things out, but the initial story boarding feels like a sacred process of exploration for someone who did it his whole career. I think over reliance on AI is going to diminish a lot of cognitive function that is essential.
@coolcloudyskies@AVARY 1. I think the point is hand drawing has mental/cognitive benefits that AI will eliminate. Even if you suck at it you’re still benefiting from tactile forms of creativity. When I draw storyboards I get sucked more into the narrative which only helps the movie.
@ChrisHornb@DannyManus 2. So today instead of honing his craft on stage he’d be busy trying gain social medial followers. Fonda is a talented legend because of his classical training. That is missing with a lot of new actors now.
@ChrisHornb@DannyManus 1. But Fonda had humble beginnings as a stage and TV actor before becoming famous after someone took a chance on him. Today a “Fonda” would need a ton of social media followers to even be cast in anything.
@LostInFilm Kubrick did not have a fear of flying just like the rumor of him never driving over 30mph because he was a afraid of crashing is bullshit. He actually had a pilot's license. There is so much dis/misinformation floating around about this man.
@BatKilmer@JosephKahn Again with the anecdotal nonsense. Smith solo starrers have flopped as well. No star has a perfect run, it doesn't make them any less of a "draw". Difference is Robbie and Lawrence didn't slap Chris Rock.
@BatKilmer@JosephKahn After Earth, Winter's Tale, Seven Pounds, the list goes on for Smith bombs. We can do this all day long. Stop comparing box office bc its a losing game. Its about who did and did not slap Chris Rock and the ensuing fallout.
