A former WWF writer tells you exactly how the "who ran over Stone Cold" story fell apart from the inside. Tommy Blacha breaks down how Vince McMahon kept changing his mind about who to pick, how the delays piled up, how the goodwill from Austin's return was slowly being eaten alive, and why saying so out loud doesn't even qualify as controversial. This is what it looks like when a great premise outlasts the plan behind it.

Avengers: Doomsday opens in NYC on Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man’s Earth. He’s fighting Deadpool and Wolverine, who were sent there with a planet-killing bomb built by Beast to destroy Tobey’s world in order to save their own universe from an Incursion. Tobey battles Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, who manages to plant the device. Wolverine stays behind when it detonates, and both he and Tobey’s Spider-Man - along with everyone on that Earth - are killed. Deadpool escapes and returns to his own Earth, which we see in the distance. Charles Xavier watches the destroyed world below with sadness… but they had no choice.
We then cut to Tony’s funeral. Steve speaks with some of the heroes, including Ant-Man, before returning the Stones. He goes back in time and chooses to stay with Peggy. They have a son, Jim. One day, Loki visits them - this is before the Loki Season 2 finale. He tells Steve about the TVA and warns him that they will soon prune this timeline because Steve was never meant to live there or have a son. Loki offers them a way out: he can take them to a universe where they don’t exist and can live in peace - the Fantastic Four’s universe. Before leaving, Loki gives Steve a special card to contact him.
Steve and his family live there for ten years.
We then see Doctor Doom visiting Sue and Franklin. They clearly know each other. Doom says he has come to speak with Reed. He warns him about the Incursions and reveals their universe is next. He proposes a plan - but they must travel with him to Earth-616. Doom also asks Reed whether it’s possible someone from another universe is living in theirs. They scan the planet and discover an anomaly: Steve and his family.
They confront Steve, who recognizes them after living there for a decade. They explain the Incursions and ask him to come to 616 to help convince the Avengers to trust Doom’s plan. They travel there, and Steve successfully persuades the heroes to listen.
Next, they visit the X-Men’s universe - but the X-Men are hostile. They’ve survived multiple Incursions and trust no one. They assume the MCU heroes and the Fantastic Four have come to destroy them and attack.
Reed and Doom explains their solution: to build massive cannons on each Earth that will permanently separate the universes and stop the Incursions. They will split into teams and each one will go to another Earth to place a canon there.
Meanwhile, Steve tells Thor he met a Loki who is still alive. Thor asks Steve to take him to him. Using Loki’s card, they locate the TVA - but when they arrive, everyone is dead and Loki has had his heart ripped out. They realize Doom is responsible.
Steve goes back to confront Doom, who reveals his true plan: to allow the Incursions to happen so he can rebuild the Multiverse in his own image and resurrect his dead family. He takes Steve to his castle in Latveria on his Earth. There, Steve meets Doom’s followers - masked witches. One of them impersonates Peggy to manipulate him.
Doom reveals that Steve’s presence in their universe is what triggered their Incursion, because he didn’t belong there. It also led to the death of Doom’s family: Doom became obsessed with stopping the Incursion, conducting dangerous experiments - one of which failed, killing his family and leaving him disfigured, forcing him to wear the armor and mask.
As revenge, Doom kills Steve’s son in front of him.
Doom announces that the Avengers are coming, and Latveria prepares for war. The Fantastic Four, the Avengers, and the X-Men unite and march on Latveria. Thor prays to Odin, who sends an army from Valhalla to join the battle.
A massive war erupts as the Earths begin to collide. Eventually, the universes crash into each other and are destroyed - killing everyone.
Everyone except Doom.
It’s revealed that he stole Loki’s powers.
🇺🇸 He was wearing a bulletproof vest under the FDNY fleece. A Secret Service agent disguised as an umpire stood a few feet away with a gun. Other agents were dressed as groundskeepers.
Officials asked him to throw Game 1 in Phoenix. Safer. Bush’s answer was New York or not at all. It was game 3 of the World Series. Steinbrenner got frisked on the way in.
He had bounced a first pitch in Milwaukee that season in dress shoes. This time he wore rubber soles.
He warmed up under the stands. Derek Jeter asked him: “Are you going to throw from the mound or from in front of it?”
Bush asked what he thought.
“Throw from the mound. Or else they’ll boo you. Don’t bounce it.”
He walked past the short rubber. All the way to 60 feet, 6 inches. Todd Greene was behind the plate. Posada was still in the bullpen with Clemens.
He said later it was the most nervous he ever was as president. Not because of the vest. Because he could not bounce it.
He threw a strike.
There is very little clear footage of flight 11 flying over manhattan and striking the north tower. Practically none exists in fact.
But we have Jules Naudet’s footage, that not only captures this rare event, but actually follows firemen into those very towers that ultimately became perhaps the most famous unintended film and documentary ever created.
Jules is tagging along with batallion chief Joseph pfeifer as they respond to a mundane gas leak call at church and lispenard.
The firsr couple minutes is pretty boring, regular Tuesday morning work. Beautiful sunny day, twin towers in the background.
Until 1 min 45 sec into the footage can you can an unusually low jetliner flying directly over manhattan. Everyone looks up in confusion, and what they see next changed America forever.
On this day in 2001, following the morning terrorist attacks on the Pentagon, New York City's World Trade Center, and in the air over Pennsylvania, Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort in California closed for the remainder of the day. Walt Disney World would begin closing shortly after 10 am.
Cast members across all four parks were instructed to hold hands and form a human chain or "wall" to calmly herd guests toward the hubs and exits without causing mass panic. Guests were initially told only that the parks were closing due to "circumstances beyond our control" to prevent chaos, though news quickly spread via cell phones as people exited to the resort buses.
All the resort hotels remain open and provide accommodations to guests who are unable to leave. Phone charges are suspended so that guests can reach family. The closure marks only the second time Disneyland has locked its gates in its 56-year history due to a national tragedy. The first time followed the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in November 1963.
At Disneyland Resort, food and beverage stations remain open at no charge for guests who are on property. AMC Theaters at Downtown Disney show free Disney films for stranded Resort guests. Due to the time difference, the California theme parks have been able to close before any guest can enter.
Michael Eisner released a statement to Cast Members explaining the Disney closings. He ends his note with these words: "Finally, let me say our company around the world will continue to operate in this sometimes violent world in which we live, offering products that reach to the higher and more positive side of the human equation."
Here’s a video showing all guests leaving the Magic Kingdom with messages playing over the park’s speakers. That must’ve been such an eerie morning to be there. 🇺🇸

They wound up recording history. It starts at 8:30 a.m. ET.
You get 15 minutes of news from the Before Times.

The Attitude Era 🔥🔥
#OnThisDay in 1994: WWF Superstars: Bob Backlund SNAPS! One of the best angle of the 90's. The Backlund turn was amazing.
This is definitely making the most out of a bad situation (i.e. the available talent pool). The best match-centred segment ever on Superstars
In 1991, when Michael J. Fox hosted SNL to promote THE HARD WAY, Fox and Doc Brown from the future storm the stage to warn him the show's going to bomb unless he travels back in time to save the show 😂 One of the best monologues the show ever did
