In #WorldCupFantasy, we get 7 points for a defender goal, so let's look at some attacking options nobody is talking about.
🇧🇦 Nikola Katic from Bosnia. An absolute unicorn.
Not only does he win almost everything in the air, he also owns one of the highest shares of headed attempts among international defenders. He's TOP 4 among European national-team defenders for xG and TOP 1 for shots.
Extremely aggressive attacking set-pieces, comfortable finishing with either foot, and always active around second balls and rebounds.
Canada are athletic and aggressive on paper but they're not an elite aerial defensive side on set-pieces. They also tend to play with a relatively high line and can concede A LOT corners when put under pressure.
At just 3.8, and with a very appealing fixture run apart from MD2, he's firmly on my radar.
🇳🇴 Next one is David Moller Wolfe from Norway
Everybody talks about Ryerson, but on paper Wolfe has a much better attacking matchup across the first 3 games.
Both Iraq and Senegal show clear asymmetries in how they concede territory dominance and chances, creating significantly more space down Wolfe's side than Ryerson's.
It's the complete opposite situation against France of course, but realistically who is targeting defenders against France anyway?
🇨🇴 I'm not particularly interested in Munoz or Mojica based on the opponents. If I wanted a Colombian defender, it'd be Sanchez.
He has a strong share of headed attempts, good at chaotic set-piece situations, and when he gets a shot away it's usually from a very high-quality area.
0.8% ownership is MAD.
@JamieBrysonLLB@IrishFA As a Rangers fan, Northern Ireland fan and Loyalist wind your neck in Jamie, not a thing wrong with the IFA tweet, Martin is an NI legend, as much as I detest him at club football.
@Theduke0141@Empire1872 Hits his hand, clear as day. Take no fucking pleasure in saying that. Trusty does bump his elbow which forces his hand into that position, but I don't know the rules to be able to say if that is mitigation to not give it. Common sense would say it is, but it's Beaton and SFA.....
