Following a debate by councillors it has been agreed (15 for and 12 against) that the public now will be exempt from the meeting owing to commercially sensitive information. I will be communicating the outcome of the debate on Facebook and Twitter immediately after the decision

While I heard a flyover bird at the start of the week it was great to see the first #Curlew of the year back on territory in my local patch (Rutland) yesterday.
They breed annually but productivity is low with only one chick known to have fledged in the last 12 years @LROSbirds

1/2 Thanks to @_BTO for news of a sighting of the only Siskin I ringed last year. Ringed in Rutland on 7th Oct, it was seen at Hilchebach (NE Germany), 627km away, on 2nd Feb, the ring being read in the field!

Last week I controlled (= ringed by another ringer) a Long-tailed Tit. Given their sedentary nature (95% of recoveries are <60km) I assumed it was from Rutland Water.
