Every winter, Bangladesh's wetlands welcome thousands of migratory birds 🐦 travelling across borders. From Tanguar Haor in the northeast to Sonadia Island on the southeast coast, every sighting matters. This #WMBD2026 let's observe, record and protect.

From Asia and Africa to Europe and the Americas, people everywhere are celebrating #WorldMigratoryBirdDay today! 🌍

Which birds have you spotted? Share your observations with us below. 🔭

Your observations matter & #EveryBirdCounts ! 🐦🌍🐦

[UN Environment Programme New York @UNEP_NYO]

Today is #WorldMigratoryBirdDay.
This year's theme: Every Bird Counts - Your Observations Matter.
One sighting logged by a birdwatcher becomes data. Enough data becomes evidence. Evidence shapes the policies that protect flyways.
#EveryBirdCounts

[UN Environment Programme @UNEP]

Migratory birds make incredible journeys every year, but habitat loss, pollution and climate change are pushing many into decline.

[Convention on Wetlands @RamsarConv]

As @crazyaboutbird, reminds us: “Every observation matters because it creates more than a data point. When someone notices a bird, identifies it and shares that observation, a small connection begins between that person, the bird and conservation.” #WorldMigratoryBirdDay

[World Migratory Bird Day @WMBD]

Your observations matter!

On #WorldMigratoryBirdDay, UNEP Executive Director Ms. Inger Andersen pays tribute to the millions of people whose observations help conserve migratory birds. 🐦

As aves migratórias fazem jornadas incríveis todos os anos, mas a poluição, as mudanças climáticas e a perda de seus habitats podem estar causando seu declínio.

Neste #DiaMundialdasAvesMigratórias, cada ave importa.

The numbers demand action: 49% of CMS-listed migratory species populations are declining, while 24% face extinction.
#WMBD2026 calls for stronger protection of breeding, stopover & wintering habitats and global flyways.

Today, October 10, take part in the second peak day celebration of World Migratory Bird Day 2026 under the theme: Every Bird Counts – Your Observations Matter! This year's campaign highlights the vital role of community science in the conservation of migratory birds. Celebrate!

[Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) @BonnConvention]

Shared observations, brought together through digital platforms and community science initiatives, are helping inform migratory bird conservation across borders and entire flyways.

On #WorldMigratoryBirdDay, CMS Executive Secretary Andy Raine reminds us why every observation counts.

🪽¡Feliz #diamundialdelasavesmigratorias!

En estas fechas es fácil ver que algunas aves que han pasado el verano ya no están... ¡pero llegan otras!

[UNESCO @UNESCO]

Each year, more than two million birds find refuge in Banc d’Arguin National Park in Mauritania.

With its sand dunes, shallow waters and islands, this @UNESCO #WorldHeritage site provides vital feeding and resting grounds along their journeys across continents.

As we mark #WorldMigratoryBirdDay, find out more about this unique site and why protecting the places migratory birds depend on along the way matters.

Look up! 🔝

You might spot a Swallow or Cuckoo on its migratory way! 🐦

With the new Euro Bird Portal, we can now track the occurrence of all bird species across Europe in near real time for the 1st time.

[Convention on Wetlands @RamsarConv]

When you visit a wetland and record the birds you see, you do more than observe nature; you actively protect it.

🦆On this #WorldMigratoryBirdDay2026, step out into your local wetlands. Look up at the sky, look into the reeds and make every observation count.

Ever wondered what type of bird is singing near you?

Apps like @MerlinBirdID recognise birdsong and identify species.

Using apps like these is beneficial to migratory bird conservation and research, and reconnects people with the joy of birdwatching.
