Such a thrill to see our work on developing genetic theraputics for Timothy Syndrome on the cover of @Nature today. One of the most gratifying projects i've ever worked on, alongside @XiaoyuChenxy with @Sergiu_P_Pasca at the helm. Excited for what lies ahead for dev. theraputics!
Today, I’m thrilled have our lab’s work featured on the cover of @Nature
In this article, we have developed a therapeutic approach for a severe condition called Timothy syndrome. This has been a long journey. It started with making hiPS cell-derived neurons in 2D cultures 15 years ago when I was a postdoc and continued with later creating in the lab #organoid and then #assembloid models of this disease caused by a mutation in a calcium channel.
Over time, these human cellular models and the biological insights we gained enable us to design a therapeutic strategy, which we validated in vivo following circuit integration of patient-derived organoids into the rat brain.
Grateful for the incredible work led by @XiaoyuChenxy and @fikribirey in the lab! And the many close collaborators who participated to this line of research over the years.
We're excited to announce that the Brain Organoid Hub is hiring! If you, or someone you know, has an interest in working with stem cells and brain organoids as a Research Specialist, please feel free to apply 🔬https://t.co/STWEu4sJVY
It was so fun to see these talented scientists work hard to master iPSC/organoid techniques in record time! We are so proud of our first workshop cohort and can't wait to see how they incorporate organoids into their science. Sincerest thank you from all of us. 🫶
Our lab @StJudeResearch is recruiting! We have postdoc and technician positions available.
Please apply (links below) if you’re interested in neural differentiation and maturation during brain development and disease focusing on novel concepts of mRNA and cytoskeletal regulation
Our newest work is online now in Neuron @NeuroCellPress showing the generation of diencephaluc #organoids, assembly to form cortico-thalamic #assembloids and their application to discover defects following loss of function and gain of function mutations in CACNA1G, which are associated with high risk for schizophrenia and absence seizure epilepsy, respectively.
Work spearheaded by Ji-il Kim, Yuki Miura and @Minyin_Li
Are you interested in synaptic balance, astrocytes, neurons, and neurodevelopmental disorders? The Irala lab is recruiting and we have postdoc and technician positions! They come with incredible benefits and support! Please apply following the links below to join our team 🧬✴️
Come join the Brain Organoid Hub this October for a hands-on and immersive workshop to learn the ins
and outs of brain organoid culture! We will be offering in-depth training, expert lectures, and practical demos. Apply now at https://t.co/slRsdEFLmA.
🤩 We can't wait for #ISDN2024 this weekend!
Don't miss Drs. Benedetta Artegiani (@BArtegiani), @Alex_Baffet, @fikribirey, & @SilviaM_Velasco discuss 🧠 #organoid modeling of CNS development.

Our lab is growing and we have openings for #postdoc and #technician. Please get in touch if you are interested in #RNA regulation in #neurons or #gene expression studies. RT or share. Learn more on our lab website: https://t.co/YfqdGMkE8L
It is with great sadness that the Simons Foundation announces the death of its co-founder and chair emeritus, James Harris Simons. Jim was an award-winning mathematician, a legendary investor and a generous philanthropist. https://t.co/w48DhauUVj
A recent @NIH-supported study discovered a potential new therapy for Timothy syndrome, a rare genetic disorder. The findings could offer a road map for treating other rare genetic conditions and mental disorders, too. Learn more: https://t.co/5qdXtgC4Hj
So excited to be a recipient of the Tambourine ALS Breakthrough Research Fund! Our project will use 3D human cellular models to study mechanisms underlying ALS. Thanks to Tambourine for this support! More here: https://t.co/gx2yFevqkR
Using a multilevel in vivo and in vitro stem cell model-based approach, scientists rescue neuronal function in cortical organoids derived from patients with #TimothySyndrome –a severe, multisystem disorder.
