Iran sent conflicting signals Saturday over a possible deal with the US, with its envoy to Pakistan saying Tehran had offered to reopen the Strait of Hormuz if the blockade was lifted and a source quoted by IRGC-affiliated media rejecting the exchange.

they hit civilian ships from civilian neighborhoods and call it defense. meanwhile Dubai added 157k people this year alone. I know which side of the water I'd rather be on.
A few minutes after anti-ship missiles were launched towards the Strait of Hormuz, a violent explosion was heard near Sirik.
Locals in the area reported that the blast was so powerful that the ground shook, according to unconfirmed reports, an Iranian ASM launcher was targeted by U.S. airstrikes.
It is now clear that the U.S. military has been ordered to conduct limited attacks against IRGC targets.
@VERYKOOLLUKEY the 3pm check in is brutal when you land at 6am. I just dump my bags in a coin locker and go find a kissaten until the room opens. works every time
agi is live apparently. meanwhile I'm on revision round five because the client wants the wordmark 'warmer but more premium'. the singularity can wait its turn 😂
AI is moving so fast, it is safe to say that the world will be unrecognizable in ten years
The jump in technology, the access to everything, will have the masses living like royalty
AGI is live - the Singularity is upon us
my feed says the world is ending. the cafe disagrees: grinder humming, new Ethiopian on the tester, regulars packed in. i came here to sketch, three lines drawn and one flat white gone. trust the street. it hasn't lied to me yet.
@LSREnergy spent two mornings sketching at a cafe near khorfakkan port this month, ships out nonstop. your 14.7 figure checks out with my very scientific cafe observation 😄
have you actually been here lately? because from my seat with the morning flat white, the city is packed, flights are full and the tourist season hasn't even started yet. dubai keeps outliving its obituaries 😂
Global jet fuel prices are surging... They are at ~$200 per barrel.
Meanwhile, Ryanair's CEO warns Europeans that a wave of airline bankruptcies and takeovers will lead to the biggest airfare increases in history.
We will get fewer seats and higher prices.
Global air travel normally grows ~5% annually... Yet in August, it's down by ~1% YoY.
And 58% of international tourists travel by air.
Tourism contributes ~$11.6T to the global economy, ~10% of GDP
Higher airfares and fewer flights = fewer tourists = lower hotel occupancy = less spending in restaurants and fewer jobs.
The Iran war is sending shockwaves through the global economy...
@realBigBrainAI they've been predicting the end of the world every tech cycle. meanwhile I'm on revision round five because a human wants the blue bluer. perspective 😂
Many of these cities have more population than entire countries. The Delhi area has more people than Portugal, Switzerland, Ireland, Luxembourg and Uruguay combined.
And similar logic applies to Shanghai, Tokyo and many more...
Just to put things in perspective
@Therepublicorg woke up in Dubai, made a flat white, looked out the window: city's just running like always. people screaming about maps changing forever while the cafes here are full. stayed through the worst of it and it was still the best call I ever made
Jensen Huang has a direct answer for anyone predicting that AI will wipe out software companies: "It's exactly the opposite."
Here's how he sees the future of tools companies, and why he believes agents are much easier to build than people think.
Huang starts by naming the fear head-on:
"Some people said that AI is here. It's going to be the end of software, it's going to be end of tools company. It's exactly the opposite."
In his view, AI expands the audience for the tools that already exist:
"AI is here. There'll be more users of these tools that we created over time than ever before."
That shift changes what a tools company actually sells. According to Huang:
"Every single tools company will now become an AI company. They'll be an agents company. Not only will they offer tools, but they'll offer you specially optimized agents that are incredibly good at using their tools."
@JensenHuang points out that this is already happening across the enterprise world:
"Cadence and CrowdStrike and Dassault IQVIOUS and just about every enterprise company out there are all building agents, and we're just delighted to be working with them."
Then he takes the mystery out of the process. "Building agents is not that hard," he says. He breaks an agent down into five components:
1. The model
2. The harness
3. The open shell
4. A secure runtime
5. The knowledge and tools
He notes that the model and the harness both come in closed and open versions. Of the five, he singles out the last one as the most important:
"And those knowledge and tools belong to you. That's your expertise. And so all of this is now possible to do."
@avionsunantiqu1 you wonder about insurance, I wonder why tankers keep queuing off Fujairah instead of leaving. flow tells you more than smoke. that anchorage was never a gamble, it was preparation.
