This afternoon our Chair @amcarmichaelMP asked @DefraGovUK Secretary of State @SteveReedMP what the Government is going to do if Thames Water can't meet its deadline for securing a buyer.

[Sandra Laville @sandralaville]

Oof. Meanwhile Sir Jon Cunliffe wants investors for water who want low risk, low returns... good luck https://t.co/ll0BEIbE9Y

"There is not a single river anywhere in England that isn't polluted," says campaigner @Feargal_Sharkey, as Thames Water suffers a major blow with KKR pulling out of its rescue deal.

NEXT CHANCE TO SEE ULTIMATE ROD RACE
SPECIAL CHARITY SEASON PASS WINDOW...
Ultimate Rod Race has now been offered to a wide range of television broadcasters. I have provided them with a full press pack and we are making progress...
👉In the meantime, in line with my promise to look at how we can use the series to support charities, I will soon announce a short window in which I will give passes to watch all six episodes (one hour plus director’s cut episodes) in exchange for donations to good causes associated with angling. I have to work out the details but I will do that in the coming days...
PRIMARY FOCUS will be on @Giraffesontour which is the charity that provided our series mascot, Geoffrey, who raises funds for G.O.S.H.
I have also received quite a lot of comments about fighting pollution and for this reason will add @FishLegal_ donations to the list.
We may also be able to help mental health initiatives that involve angling. It all depends on how popular this is.
IN SUMMARY - I will swap season passes for charity subscriptions and donations for a limited window. Details to follow...

RESULT! @SevenTrentWater has DROPPED its plans to 'deal with' excess pollution going into the River Clun by building a pipeline to divert wastewater into the River Onny.

If the scheme went ahead it would have set a worrying precedent for rivers nationwide...

@HarryPeetTV @pickeringfish Massive congrats to @FishLegal_ @pickeringfish when I filmed at Costa beck what I witnessed & filmed underwater was truly appalling, despite being waste deep in sewage and silt , pleased to have supported this through my filming. Costa beck was the pinnacle of grayling fishing

[Angling Trust @AnglingTrust]

✅ Penny Gane of @fishlegal_ delivers the good news to Martin Smith, Honorary Secretary of the Pickering Fishery Association that they have won a court case mandating the UK government to clean up rivers nationwide.

💧 The Court of Appeal upheld a ruling that the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) failed in its legal duty to protect waterways, specifically citing the pollution of the Upper Costa Beck in North Yorkshire.

🙌It's a huge win for rivers and anglers as this decision compels the government to implement specific measures to restore the health of rivers across the country.

[Feargal Sharkey @Feargal_Sharkey]

I cannot even begin to underline to you what a victory this is for @FishLegal_, @pickeringfish and ultimately every river in the country, just immense.

The scandal is that they had to take this case at all and the 16 years the EA have wasted.

I now look forward to discussing with @EnvAgencySE the exact detail of the plans they are now going to put in place to save the Upper Lea from extinction.
