@alittlefitness@VicInstSport Hey Richard, I'm very much interested in applying. What's the best way to ask you some questions about the role and what you're looking for specifically.
Peak periods are a useful tool for benchmarking game characteristics in training, but how long and often are we reaching these peak intensities in #rugbyunion game play?

@Physical_Prep This isn't a complete solution, but it's a start.

You can include code in your shiny app to save data to an external source for persistent data storage.
Thank you @ESSASpSc for the opportunity to share our work on the distribution and proportion of peak running and impact characteristics. We hope this helps practitioners better prepare their rugby union athletes. Please contact me for any questions or discussions.

When focussing on >50% peak speed and > 0 impacts (harder periods)
-Majority (41%) are spent at 50-59% of positional peak in the 1st half, increasing in the 2nd (43%)
-Periods with 1 impact contribute majority of occurrences (51%) and are consistent across halves

Most frequently, peak 1-min running periods occur at the beginning of each half.
Peak impact characteristics (6+), however, appear much more sporadic throughout.

@RugbyAU -Greatest distribution of game time for speed is at 30-39% of positional peak.
-~75% of total game time involves no impacts.
-Percentage of game time involved decreases as impacts and running speeds increased.

160 @RugbyAU players from #SuperRugby were involved in this study.
-4 teams
-1422 player game files
-2 years (2018-2019)
-1-minute rolling running, and impact characteristics analysed in 10% increments of positional ‘peak’

Peak periods only occur once during a game and therefore may not be reflective of overall game-play. So why do we focus on them so heavily to identify fluctuations in game intensity and prescribe specific “worst case” training?

Training misconception #1: specificity means using exercises that looks like competition
Being specific doesn’t mean it looks similar, it means it elicits SPECIFIC adaptations. No exercise is 100% specific to competition, should we not train, just compete?🏋🏼♀️🏃🏻♂️⚽️🏈🎾🤔
