Fellow Connecticut Patriots: If you put America First, defend local control, transparency, parental rights, and individual freedom – Ranked-Choice Voting (RCV) is a dangerous threat. It's a complex scam that corrupts our simple elections, empowering elites while confusing and silencing everyday voters.

S.B. No. 386 forces RCV into party caucuses, conventions, primaries (including presidential), and local races. This destroys majority-rule: One person, one vote, top vote-getter wins.

How RCV Works – And Why It Fails
Rank candidates 1st, 2nd, etc. No majority? Eliminate losers, redistribute votes until 50% of leftovers. It's "instant runoff" that fakes winners and discards votes.

Lies vs. Hard Truth
RCV boosters promise less negativity, no wasted votes, higher turnout, better winners. Facts say otherwise:

- Confusion & Tossed Votes: Error rates 10-14x higher; ballots rejected for mistakes. Hits low-income, minority, non-English voters hardest. Your vote vanishes if not ranked perfectly.

- Fake Majorities: 10-27% ballots "exhaust" and get ignored. Winner has majority of scraps, not all votes – ignoring first choices.

- Center Squeeze: Splits strong conservatives, hands wins to moderates/leftists. Alaska 2022: Conservatives divided, Democrat won despite GOP majority. Repeal efforts ongoing.

- No Fix for Campaigns/Turnout: Mixed results on negativity/turnout; doesn't end division, just favors big-money strategies.

- Costs, Delays, Opacity: New tech, training, delayed results. Relies on untransparent software – bad for integrity. Burdens small towns.

- Who Benefits? Elites: Favors moderates; dilutes bold conservatives. Forces pandering over principles.

Why CT Must Reject It
Our Republic needs clear, transparent elections. RCV brings confusion, waste votes, costs, and distrust. Real reform: Voter ID, same-day counts, paper ballots. Not this power grab.

Today, CT Republicans stood united with local farmers to push back against harmful farmland tax hikes that threaten the future of agriculture in our state. At a press conference, Senators Heather Somers, Jeff Gordon, Ryan Fazio, and Senate Minority Leader Stephen Harding stood with farmers facing major property tax increases tied to changes under Public Act 490.

Recent state updates to Public Act 490 proposed dramatic increases, creating uncertainty and financial strain for farms already under pressure. While the most extreme increase was reversed, many farmers are still facing extreme tax hikes.

“Our message is simple: We have Connecticut farmers’ backs,” Sen. Somers said. “State policies should help, not hurt, the people who put food on our tables.”

We either have lazy/sloppy majority party (assuming party-line votes) or deliberately loose language creating many wide open loopholes...

Let’s address an uncomfortable truth about how we MUST ensure that Connecticut’s anti-discrimination law on “sexual orientation” unambiguously excludes pedophilia and criminal acts.

The statute could be revised with the following clear, explicit language and structure:

Example Revision of “Sexual Orientation” Definition

> “Sexual orientation” means an individual’s romantic, emotional, or sexual attraction to adults of the same gender, a different gender, or more than one gender.
> For the purposes of this section, “sexual orientation” does not include:
> - Any attraction involving minors as defined by state and federal law;
> - Pedophilia or any sexual attraction to children;
> - Any behaviors or expressions that constitute criminal conduct under Connecticut law or federal law, including but not limited to offenses defined in chapters addressing sexual assault, sexual exploitation, and related crimes against children.

Supplementary Clause
> Nothing in this section shall be construed to protect, legitimize, or provide civil rights or employment protections to individuals on the basis of attraction to minors or on the basis of conduct, behavior, or self-identification that involves criminal activity.

Rationale and Legal Effect

- Age Restriction: Explicitly states the law refers only to attraction between adults or to adults, sharply excluding attractions involving minors.
- Exclusion of Criminality:
Clarifies that neither criminal behavior nor attraction that would constitute a crime is protected under the non-discrimination law.
- Precedent and Enforcement:
Aligns with federal rulings and accepted standards, preventing any future reinterpretation from extending rights to MAPs or individuals involved in illegal conduct.

Such language would leave no ambiguity and directly address concerns raised by critics and the public about hypothetically broad interpretations. It would also withstand legal scrutiny and be straightforward for agencies, employers, and courts to enforce.
