Stellar work by Richard @RichardVoit and Vijay @bloodgenes. Congratulations and a great step forward for DBA!

@Mauricio_Neuro@RuggeroDavide @sohitmiglani @mbarnalab Expression of these early precursor genes by 4E prevents erythroid maturation and hence expression of genes associated with RBC maturation seen in WT states.
@Mauricio_Neuro@RuggeroDavide @sohitmiglani @mbarnalab The proteomics show WT expresses many genes associated with erythroid maturation (globin, RBC cytoskeleton) while these are not seen in eIF4E. We believe this shows 4E selectively expresses genes in early precursor states.
@Mauricio_Neuro@RuggeroDavide @sohitmiglani @mbarnalab Thank you for your comment Mauricio! The analysis we did is looking at relative gene expression between the wild-type and eIF4E overexpression state after 3 days of maturation induction by changing the cytokine milieu.
Very excited to share a story looking into translational control in the early steps of erythroid commitment. Thank you to @mbarnalab, @RuggeroDavide, the editorial staff at @ScienceMagazine and our great collaborators.

Thanks @WilburLam for headlining the Taru Hays Hematology Symposium @ChildrensColo and @NucleatedRBC @Forester_lab for organizing. A much needed few days to focus on great research and reconnecting with colleagues.
How are vaccines holding up against Delta?
Updated table with latest data, including new J&J trial.
Notable is the decline for protection of mRNAs vs infections (still very solid vs hospitalizations and deaths)
More on that in 🧵below https://t.co/SpTAkMS8qQ
A fascinating link between p53 control of selective translation to guide early development in a model of ribosomopathy. Congrats @geraldctiu and @mbarnalab!!
