Forus

The AI network for medicine, accelerating new science to patients.

[Forus @forus]

Today, we’re announcing that Forus has raised a $150M Series C at a $3B valuation to build the AI network for medicine.

The round was led by @BainCapVC with participation from @ThriveCapital, @generalcatalyst, @Accel, @Redpoint @BoxGroup, @pearvc, @AvraCap, @humancapital, @neo, @vast_ventures, and @svangel

Forus supports millions of people across all 50 states and is already used by providers to treat patients in 85% of U.S. residential ZIP codes. 9 of the top 15 global biopharma companies work with us, alongside many fast-growing biotechs.

Our goal is to put Forus in every doctor’s office in the country and accelerate the medicine pipeline from discovery to treatment.

The opportunity ahead of us is much larger than what we can take on today. We aren’t constrained by capital or customer demand. We are constrained by the talent and capacity of our team.

We’re hiring exceptional engineers and operators in New York to help us take it on. Come build with us.

This week at Forus 🌱

- Women in tech event with Sapienne
- Office housewarming
- Security and infra event @BainCapVC

[Sahir @sahirjaggi]

Last night we hosted a housewarming for our new office on Wooster St in SoHo.

We had ~200 friends of @forus join us to celebrate, including many already interviewing, others just starting to look around, and former founders figuring out what’s next.

Forus is at a true inflection point, rapidly expanding across the country to serve partners ranging from pediatric cancer wards to the fastest growing biotechs. We are limited only by capacity to take on the unprecedented opportunity in front of us.

We are looking for high horsepower and hyper resourceful doers who can drive new customers, markets, and products. If you want to help us accelerate a new era of American medicine, please get in touch or come to our next house party (soon!)

.@nextplayso spoke with our engineers about the agents we’re building, the pace of the team, direct feedback, and the patients affected by what we get right or wrong.

Thanks to @benln for putting together: Should you join @forus?

You probably didn't know about @Forus a year ago. And just this month, they raised $150M at a $3B valuation. So… how? And why?

When a new medicine launches in the US, nearly two-thirds of the prescriptions written in its first year never get filled. That’s mostly because it gets stuck in a bunch of red tape (prior auths, verifications, appeals) before it reaches the patient. This is, of course, bad!

Forus gives each prescription its own AI agent that works the case until the patient actually starts treatment. Doctors and patients pay nothing. Providers in all 50 states use it, and nine of the top fifteen global biopharma companies are customers.

Plus - all of their existing institutional investors participated in their latest round.

They're about 100 people in NYC with around 50 roles open.

Thanks to @sahirjaggi and others for chatting with us about Forus.

Last week our rep from @tryramp dropped off a 40" pair of red-handled scissors with the @forus logo on the blade. They are very sharp.

Day ones know we originally incorporated as Red Scissor, Inc. (to cut through red tape for our users), and I still use my original Ramp card from before our name change.

Such a fun gift, going on our office wall!

A model can be 95% confident and still be wrong because the world changed.

That’s the challenge behind a deceptively simple healthcare decision: which pharmacy should dispense a patient’s prescription.

Our team progressed from deterministic rules and statistical models to LLM extractors, and ultimately to an agent that can weigh conflicting signals, seek more information, and escalate when needed.

We weren’t planning to raise our Series C. The business was expanding faster than we could build capacity, and our investors saw it firsthand. They responded with more capital to help us scale the network faster.

That speed matters beyond meeting demand, though. We recently met a 50-provider urology group that had stopped treating certain cancers because getting patients on prescribed therapies had become operationally unsustainable. At a critical point in their diagnosis, patients were turned away and left to find another specialist, potentially hours away, creating delays and increasing the risk that treatment never begins.

Forus automates the process between prescription and treatment so practices can continue treating patients with the most serious conditions.

I joined @KristenScholer on @NYSE Live to talk about why expanding the network faster matters.

We’re hosting our first ever BDR superday @forus HQ in NYC this Sunday!

Meet the team, interview in person, and receive a decision by EOD.

If you’re ambitious, competitive, and want to grow with a tenacious team, come join!

Some companies start earning revenue the week they launch. The companies @MattHdeJonge and I chose to build required multiple years of work before the first dollar.

This week, we were at MIT and Harvard to talk about why we started our companies and chose to build them this way.

Applying AI to consequential problems requires understanding and rebuilding the full stack, not putting a model behind an existing workflow. For @fortellresearch, that meant years of R&D. For @forus, it meant solving a chicken-and-egg network across doctors, patients, and biopharma before the business model could prove itself.

Investors like @ThriveCapital gave us the capital and credibility to pursue problems that would take years to solve but could produce an enormous payoff for society.

The conversation ultimately came back to students asking which problems are worth spending years of your life solving. Matt captured that choice with the question that pushed him to leave Bridgewater:

“If I were given a terminal diagnosis tomorrow, would I feel proud of how I had spent my time on earth?”

One word to describe Forus, from the people building with us…

[Sahir @sahirjaggi]

AI labs figured out that curing cancer could be pretty good for the brand.

They might be right, but finding more molecules will only impact society if we change the long, expensive, and unpredictable process required to bring each one to market.

Our $150M Series C will help us scale the Forus network to change the economics of developing and launching new drugs. I shared more on @tbpn this week.

[Sahir @sahirjaggi]

We’re announcing that Forus has raised a $150M Series C at a $3B valuation to build the AI network for medicine.

Medicine will remain one of the world’s most important industries until humanity achieves immortality, and we are only at the beginning of a new era in what it can do. GLP-1s are changing obesity and cardiometabolic disease. Gene therapies can treat diseases at their genetic source. New cancer treatments are turning diagnoses that were once fatal into diseases people can live with. AI is enabling us to discover of new drugs even faster.

But discovery is only the beginning. It still takes more than a decade and billions of dollars to turn a new molecule into an approved medicine, and once it reaches market, more than a third of patients prescribed specialty treatments never receive their first dose.

Forus is creating the AI network to accelerate the entire medicine pipeline, from development and launch through prescription and treatment. We connect the companies creating medicines with the doctors who prescribe them and the patients who need them.

Today, Forus supports millions of people across all 50 states and is already used by providers to treat patients in 85% of U.S. residential ZIP codes. 9 of the top 15 global biopharma companies work with us, alongside many fast-growing biotechs. Our goal is to put Forus in every doctor’s office in the country and unlock an order of magnitude more medicine for society.

There is a generational opportunity to rethink how new medicine reaches people. Forus is becoming how medicine moves from discovery to treatment in America, and as we scale, we’ll become the most important company in life sciences.

Forus is not constrained by capital or customer demand; we are constrained by the talent and capacity of our team. To take on the opportunity in front of us, we need exceptional engineers and operators in New York who want to move fast and help us make something that matters. Come build with us.

Our Series C was led by Bain Capital Ventures, with Thrive Capital, General Catalyst, Accel, Redpoint, BoxGroup, Pear VC, Vast Ventures, and SV Angel investing alongside them.
