China's domestically developed S4000 Stratosphere Airborne Wind Energy System (SAWES) has recently completed a verification test in northwest China, marking a new breakthrough in the country's stratospheric high-altitude wind power technology.
With a maximum operating altitude of 4,000 meters and a designed service life of up to 20 years, the system meets the requirements for the country's mainstream power grids.
China accelerates 6G development
Since the beginning of this year, China has been intensifying its efforts to advance 6G technology and its related industrial ecosystem.
In May, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) granted the IMT-2030 (6G) Promotion Group permission to use trial frequencies for 6G in the 6GHz band.
In June, a joint provincial-ministerial initiative was launched to coordinate pilot programs for 6G innovation and development. The following month, Jiangsu province in east China established a 6G industry alliance, while central China's Hubei province released an action plan to drive innovation-led 6G growth.
As 6G transitions from laboratory research to field trials and industrial applications, its development path is becoming clearer and its progress increasingly steady.

Let's be clear, when people propose outlandish theories of liability such as these, their real goal is to just destroy the underlying technology or industry in question. It is absolutely impossible for these sorts of theories of liability to work in the real world because, in our nation of endless frivolous lawsuits, the courts would just be filled with mountains of junk science-based claims as trial lawyers go in search of ways to bleed innovators dry to enrich themselves. All we would be left with was one or two extremely large big tech companies who would just constantly pay out to the trial lawyers to settle frivolous claims. Small innovators would never be able to bear this burden. Costs would go up for average Americans and they would be denied many important services and new options because of the new tort toll. Again, it's all just a trial lawyer enrichment racket.
Ken Paxton knows all this but he's on seek and destroy mission against the American digital technology sector and so he doesn't care about the consequences of such insanely destructive theories of liability.

🧬 Scientists May Have Found a Way to Create “Universal” Kidneys
Scientists used special enzymes to remove blood-type markers from a donated Type A kidney, making it more like a Type O organ. In a first human test, the modified kidney worked for several days after transplantation.
The markers began returning by day three—but the experiment proved something remarkable: scientists may be able to change an organ’s blood-type identity.
If perfected, this could help more patients receive donated kidneys and reduce deadly waiting lists.

How bad was life before modern science, technology, and economic growth? Awful.
The example I will use in class this Wednesday is Henry Clay (1777-1852). He was one of the most powerful men of his time in the U.S., not just among the elite but among the elite of the elite: Speaker of the House, Secretary of State, Senator, and three-time presidential candidate. He was also rich and a large slaveholder. The U.S. was among the richest countries in the world (perhaps only behind Great Britain) and among the most technologically advanced. And we are not talking about the early Middle Ages, but about the first half of the 19th century.
Given the constraints of his time, he had nearly everything within reach.
Clay and his wife, Lucretia (both in the photograph), had eleven children: six daughters and five sons. He buried all six daughters. By 1835, all were dead: two as infants, two as children, two as young mothers. He also buried a son in a war his father had opposed. Another son, Theodore, fractured his skull as a child, but since nobody could treat him, he spent decades in an asylum in Lexington.
Think about this for a second: seven children dead and one handicapped out of eleven, in the first half of the 19th century, among the elite of the elite, in one of the richest and most advanced places on the planet.

A landmark study of 2,344 counties by Nanjing researchers reveals a dark truth behind China's green energy drive: rapid solar expansion is causing widespread declines in local bird diversity.
Led by Associate Professor Huiming Zhang at Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, researchers tracked decade-long data and found a direct link between strict pro-solar policies and dropping bird populations. As China's solar footprint surged past 4,520 square kilometers, vital croplands and grasslands were transformed into industrial solar parks, hitting both resident and migratory species.
To satisfy state quotas, local officials tried covering up the habitat loss with "inferior greening." They planted dense, uniform vegetation around solar arrays that looks green on satellite images, but leaves natural habitats ecologically dead.
Beijing projects solar will supply 45 percent of its energy mix by 2060. Yet top-down planning forces local cadres to build on ecologically rich land just to hit regional targets, rather than using degraded desert areas.

Backed by a €125 million government commitment to national research hubs and a massive €2 billion roadmap signed in 2026, Munich-based startup Proxima Fusion is leading the charge in Germany’s nuclear fusion project.
Spun out of the prestigious Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics, the company plans to build 'Alpha'—a demonstration stellarator—near Munich by the 2030s, aiming to become the first magnetic-confinement device of its design to achieve a net energy gain.
If successful, Alpha will pave the way for 'Stellaris,' a massive 1-gigawatt commercial power plant slated for the site of a decommissioned nuclear fission plant in Gundremmingen.
Despite the immense excitement, scaling this 'limitless' clean energy source faces daunting real-world challenges. While Stellaris's conceptual design targets substantial electrical output, the reality is that its computational models require roughly 417 grams of tritium daily—a rare hydrogen isotope whose commercial breeding technology has never been demonstrated at scale.
Notably, just over 3,000 such gigawatt-class plants would be able to meet global electricity demand.
With heavy backing from German utility giant RWE and regional governments, this ambitious project represents a high-stakes bet that stellarators can solve the world's long-term energy security challenges once and for all.
