🎉 NEW YEARS THREAD: 2018 was such an incredibly transformative year for students everywhere.

We showed the world what it means to organize for change.

Let's take a look back at what we did.

[Frisco Student Activist Union @FriscoSAU]

We’re happy to see Frisco Mayor @JeffCheney has already signed @AMarch4OurLives’ #MayorsForOurLives pledge. We’re eager to hear his plans for Frisco’s community-wide day of action on National Voter Registration Day, September 25th.

[Frisco Student Activist Union @FriscoSAU]

DFW Students Demand Action will be hosting a vigil this Saturday, 09/01, from 6:30-7:30pm at Preston Hollow Park in Dallas in remembrance of the victims of the recent Madden 19 shooting in Florida. Please contact @DFW_SDA for more information. Signup: https://t.co/F5vEMzkwvi

In Texas, a photo ID is required to vote. Closing 87 DMV offices - four of which are in the DFW area - would disenfranchise potential voters and be a state-wide act of voter suppression. #txlege https://t.co/lRLFdgqz4l

[Texas Civil Rights Project @TXCivilRights]

#VotingMatters. And, this generation knows it’s important now more than ever. Following the #Parkland school shooting, student activist group @FriscoSAU organized a school walkout to register their classmates to vote. Their next stop? Midterms. https://t.co/WdXXmQwnQW

Hear one of our founders, Kundai Nyamandi, discuss the importance of active and uniform voter registration across Frisco ISD campuses.

[Frisco Student Activist Union @FriscoSAU]

Frisco SAU will be at the 6/13 Frisco ISD school board meeting starting at 7:30pm, calling for active and uniform voter registration across all high schools in the district. Join us!

[Frisco Student Activist Union @FriscoSAU]

We plan to register voters across the district & reach out to those in power to change district policy. Next week, we're meeting with a Frisco ISD Director, & will be speaking at the Board's Aug. 13 meeting.

FISD has until October 9th to fix their voter registration policies.

"This is a statewide pandemic, it's not a just a Frisco problem," (Hillary Shah, co-founder of Frisco SAU) said, “...every Texas public high school needs to play an active part in this, because that's the law, that's their responsibility."

The Frisco ISD Back-to-School Bash is right around the corner! The event is open to all FISD students and families to enjoy food, prizes, giveaways and fun activities for the family.

It is completely pointless to complain about politics if you have the ability to vote but choose not to.

[Reedy HS Student Activist Union @ReedyHS_SAU]

#WednesdayWisdom you should register to vote, and then actually go and vote.

I’m hiding in the library during this AU lockdown, and it’s surreal. We’re laughing, chatting. As if this is normal. It isn’t.
Stay safe and donate to @Everytown. #americanuniversity #lockdown

Everyone. Must. Register. To. Vote. Right. Now.
