I actually tried Zora first, but I didnt want it to accidentally launch a coin, so then I tried Opensea, but that was confusing, so then I tried Manifold (0% fee!) which worked, but it wouldn't let me put it for sale there, so it ended up on OS again. Actually took like 30 mins too long for a stupid joke
@0xShiroi gambling on meme coins is an (attempted) act of rebellion of the proletariat who rejects the old social dynamics where the rich class (whales, patrons) dictates the narrative and controls their destiny
(seriously though don't gamble)
Letter to my 2017 bull run self
You’re lying on the concrete floor of the Century City parking garage right now.
You’re on break from your job in the stockroom at Eataly.
You probably stole the artisan Iranian yogurt for lunch again, $10 for 8 oz, fuck em.
Your apron and vaguely racist Italian hat are the only things covering your shattered ego from the industry execs you thought would be shopping your scripts, now shopping for prosciutto and capocollo floors above you.
But, you have hope. As much as you want to visit Mike Neel, you won’t. Besides, you already made it out of Vegas, how hard is Beverly Hills?
You have $400 in a Binance portfolio you refresh on a sketchy app on a phone you make payments for. Buy DRGN and VIA, taking about Disney rumors and Amazon partnerships.
You’re going to round-trip your four-figure profits but the inertia keeps you afloat.
Over the next year, you’ll work a few crypto jobs. Some will screw you more than others. But you’ll learn a lot and you’ll gather stories.
You’re going to develop your writing.
None of those jobs will cover your rent, and you pay more to your editor than your first book makes. You’re going to borrow money from your rich poker friend. You’re going to want to give up but you’ll tell yourself that if the best gambler you know is willing to bet on you, maybe he knows something you don’t.
You make a Twitter. You make friends. They help you.
You go by “Blockhead,” don’t ask. Just tell the truth and don’t only make fun of people for being broke, or messing up, make fun of everyone. People will be so upset they get you banned from OpenSea. Oh yeah, you made an NFT collection. It’s good but it flies under the radar. The right people like it though, so that makes it better.
You keep writing.
I won’t get into specifics, but you get luckier than you should.
And you won’t believe what you get paid to write, so I won’t tell you.
You pay back your poker friend. You buy a car to replace the Audi you junked from your English Professor / Ex. You move, buy furniture, save a little. You get a good job.
You’re able to give yourself peace for the first time. Only someone who grew up afraid and isn’t any more knows what I’m talking about.
You get perspective.
You escape LA. You find where you’re supposed to be and who you’re supposed to be with.
Most of the betting you do now, you do on yourself. You learn most people are good, or want to be good, they just don’t get the chance very often.
It doesn’t happen all at once. Like anything of value, it takes time. But other people help you, let them. With their selflessness and love, you grow. You mature. You slow down.
I guess what I’m saying is you have a long way to go from lying alone on the concrete floor, but it’s worth it.
@AGKarlRacine Probably because the whistleblower lawsuit was unsealed today.
Tributum LLC stands to collect 25% of any judgement or settlement. As an LLC organized in Wyoming it does not disclose its beneficial owners. Will you seek their owners’ identity to be disclosed?
@DavidVorick Amish farmers protect from the cycles of boom and bust in agriculture by operating diverse production systems. Most have herds of milk cows and grow feed corn, alfalfa, hay, wheat, tobacco, vegetables and fruits. Some raise poultry and cattle. Others breed horses and raise mules.
A big difference between the "new idealistic movement" scene 10-15 years ago vs today is that back then it felt possible to be on all the good-guy teams at the same time. Today, much more adversarial thinking and conflict.
I've been trying to understand.. where to from here?
@arthur0x i appreciate this take, Arthur, but respectfully,
do you not find it impossible that hedge fund managers and trading desk operators didn't anticipate a reflexive / bank run failure of a system like LUNA?
these people make a living understanding herd dynamics, & a very good one
Happy 30th Birthday to this stunner!
I’m so excited to enter this new phase of life with you—even though I’ll have to start sharing you with another (very little) man.
❤️❤️❤️
