#Gamedev making #videogames, playing games, talking about games. I also write not so short stories and dabble in #pixelart. Coming to a neighborhood near you.
Hey indie game algorithm ... please show Martin's kickstarter to 1 million people so it can succeed.
He made Nowhere Prophet and his next game looks awesome too.

Sail on divine breath — row on mortal will.
It not just preety waves, - sailing mechanics:
#pixelart#indiedev
-Small physics engine making every oar stroke build up your speed.
-Independent oar and sail control
-Sail when wind allows and relief your oarsmen, switch to oars when sailing against it to reduce friction.
Seen all those conveyor belt clips flooding the feed lately? Yeah… we have our own.
1 minute of pure satisfaction: three variations... scrap, sand fish, and squishy toys. Rotate, flip, nail the fit before the timer runs out.
Already had the subsystems cooked up for a while, so it just slotted right in. UI is WIP.
Which one is your favorite?

This solo indie dev is making a game where you clean old video game cartridges.
- Every cartridge is procedurally dirty
- Peel tape, remove stickers, clean grime
- No timer and no fail state
It's called Cozy Game Restoration. Would you play this?
🐟 It's not Dave The Diver
🍻 It's not Traveller's Rest
⭐️ It's not Star Wars Cantina
But if our indie game reminds you of them... We're Probably Doing something right!

I'm making a game and I need your help.
I love hiding things, maybe only 1% of you will find them.
Tell me, what's the most satisfying secret you ever found in a game?
@AffinityPlay On that I agree. Whether a divine will exists or not, ultimate truth is beyond human comprehension. Abrahamic faiths begin there, calling God infinite and unknowable. Faith's narrative isn’t a standin for truth; it’s truth shaped so we can grasp it, though even faith sees dimly.
@SplattrCatGames https://t.co/DPsnnaYh9H I prototype all my games as card or digital board games first... many of which have multiplayer mechanics baked in from the start. My VG focus is on single player games though so unfortunately the team play is dropped.
#Gamedevs and #Gamedesigners ask yourself this question. Would my game be fun as a board or card game? If the answer is no... you might have a problem.
Cut up paper on your desk or be like me and use @playingcardsio to prototype and find the fun.
If you push the limits you can
1. Quickly go beyond the realm of card and board games and get into more complex mechanics.
2. Collaborate with team members to build it out.
3. Have multiplayer playtest sessions and get valuable feedback early in the design phase.
4. Find the fun without wasting dev time.
You'll know you have a winner if the simple mechanics grab and hold the attention of your playtesters for more than a few minutes.
If the concept is fun and engaging at a simple level, then you have the green light to take the designs further.
You can even do this if you're well into the development of a project and you get hung up with certain parts of your game feeling flat or uninteresting! Step to the side and get back to the basics... us apes have been playing games for millennia before there were screens.
Here are a few examples of heavily automated "board/card games" I've used it for.
Artist Alexander Berezin shared a cool take on the classic Fallout chapters reimagined as Doom-style FPS to honor the wasteland's 25th anniversary.

@SplattrCatGames Funny bit of synchronicity… same day (July 1st), same theme. Setting aside the religious framing, it’s a pointed commentary on the cultural drift and zeitgeist you’re describing.
