@horton_official (Breaking my Twitter silence of months for this). Oscillation of high-voltage power lines can ionise the air and induce electrohydrodynamic forces, which appear to have overwhelmed the network. Fascinating.
🌞 Myth-busting research from @LancasterUni reveals UK solar farms use just 0.03% of agricultural land, with 95% still available for farming.
Many already combine solar panels w/ sheep grazing. Renewable energy and food production CAN coexist. Read more: https://t.co/D0eg7YGXrU
1/Energy bills are set to rise again due to a spike in global gas markets, with wholesale gas prices up 15% since the last energy price cap was announced.
This will put up energy bills because of our reliance on global fossil fuel markets controlled by petrostates and dictators.
I gather the resemblance to #Lucan was more than slight. The police were called and were convinced enough to arrest the poor fellow, who was eventually released once his identity was verified. He missed the entire conference as a result.
Not long after the #Lucan murders, my father and a colleague went to a conference somewhere. Arriving at a hotel, the receptionist told the colleague (not sure I was ever told who it was): “Here, your Lord Lucan!”
I mentioned flame retardant DBDPE when I gave evidence to @CommonsEAC's 2019 Toxic Chemicals in Everyday Life inquiry. Finding it to be vPvB comes as no surprise - and the busted Furniture Regulations mean you could be sitting on it right now. I'm still working on junking the law
🚨After 12 years of evaluations, Swedish agency KEMI has found the flame retardant DBDPE to be very persistent and bioaccumulative (vPvB).
🛋️ DBDPE is used in everyday products such as sofas!

Welcome to the topsy-turvy world of farm lobbying... 🙃
"Small farms will be broken up and they'll all be bought by big landowners, this is the end of farming as we know it."
Reality:
🤫big landowners* currently buying up farmland because they get unlimited IHT relief
😩 pushing up prices for everyone else including small tenant farmers who want to buy
🧐 actual small farms unaffected by this reform because £3m farm still pays no IHT in practice
Capping IHT relief is part of the solution for small farms, not the problem!
A ship with solar panels can provide the means to generate 100x more energy than a similar ship with coal, the @IEA says.
However... if you take final energy (the electricity from coal) instead of primary energy (the heat in the coal) it is actually 300x more energy.
