You know what’s absolutely disgusting? People complaining about “low birth rates” in the U.S. while staying silent about funding cuts to hospitals and OB care in rural areas. Pregnancy is not a walk in the park, it’s a high-risk condition that requires care, not neglect. We can’t fix birth rates while women are dying.
That’s a wrap on this year’s #ACCCardioOB! 🎉 Thanks to everyone who joined us.
Congratulations to our abstract winners: Drs. Brooke Zlotshewer, Pushan Aggarwal, & Bhavya Varma! 👏
Couldn’t make it? Sessions will be available soon on #ACCAnywhere ➡️ https://t.co/NE9t2FZGYX
We’re out here obsessing over protein, and look, I ain’t mad about it. But let’s not forget: MOST people don’t hit the minimum for fiber intake. And no, I’m not talking about fiber gummies or supplements. I mean fiber from actual whole plant foods like fruits, veggies, lentils, beans, and whole grains.
So yes, protein matters. But fiber is crucial too, backed by study after study after study. So here’s your friendly reminder: eat the protein, but don’t skip the fiber. Your body will thank you 🙌🏽
So for the record, I passed the qualifying test saying I have met the training and knowledge standards to read vascular ultrasounds. Less than a year later, my certification is held hostage unless I pay $300.
“We regret to inform you that bc you refused to pay us an annual fee despite already paying several hundred dollars to take & pass of your certification test, your certification has been revoked.”
Ok. I’ll pay it as soon as you tell me what that annual money actually covers.
On this year’s #goredforwomen day, we got to do something unbelievably exciting. We launched the NYC Health & Hospital Elmhurst Women’s Cardiovascular Institute!!

Sadly, we still default to granting more respect to men than women.
8 studies: we're >2x as likely to call male politicians, athletes, teachers, and authors by their last names. It matters: surnames signal higher status.
It's long past time to use consistent standards.
Important long-term data on biomarkers that were only somewhat recommended to check in women in the 2018 lipid guidelines. Average age in the 50s at enrollment, but prevention means looking even earlier.

Last night, I graduated as a full-fledged cardiovascular physician after 10 years of post-college education and training. I have to say, it feels pretty nice to be able to thank some of my mentors in person. Oh, and also, my cofellows are the best 😊🫀 #cardiotwitter
