Should the Director of Employment Standards be allowed to grant “variances”, which release employers from certain obligations under the Employment Standards Act in limited cases?
As remarkable as @_EPettersson has been offensively, I may be more impressed with his effort defensively. Watch him on the other side of the red line. I've seen third line, defensive-minded veterans who don't back check nearly as hard.
@TheLawofWork You've got it right. The rationale alluded to in Hills (2011 CarswellBC 4071) is that employees have the freedom to attend to their own affairs at their residence but not at another designated location (likely had more to do with lobbying). Is it different in Ontario?
#EmployeeTip: You are entitled to be paid for time spent “on-call” if your employer requires you to be at a certain location during that time, unless the location is your residence. #BCBiz#Busienss#Startups
Should employers be allowed to discipline employees or to dismiss employees with cause for conduct outside of the workplace, including on social media?

Great to see that @HarryBainsSN is making reforms for #GigEconomy workers a priority. The hard part will be determining how to respond in a way that protects workers AND facilitates gig economy businesses. Will be interesting to see how this shakes out.
