Summer like storm pattern continues across #hunwx #alwx this afternoon. Storms have started to pop. Red boxed areas are where #lightning has been in the last 10 minutes. Late Spring into Summer are the highest frequency of fatalities/injuries from lightning #ThunderRoarsGoIndoors

The first Lightning Mapping Array (LMA) has been installed by @GeorgiaTech this week in upstate NY to give us 4D lightning observations across the Tug Hill! @SteigerScott @sunyoswego

A 3D view of the new longest-extent record megaflash detected by the @NOAASatellites #GLM! The grey shell is a #NEXRAD radar composite of the cloud volume. The flash developed into the stratiform region (shallower clouds) before expanding out in all directions!

Ok. Over ~36 hrs we've had: a record high, tornado watch, possible tornado near the house, 3 inches of snow at least, AND thundersnow! I've got my Weather Bingo done for 2022!
