Geochemistry PhD Student @OceanEarthUoS interested in hothouse worlds, the terrestrial realm and carbon cycling, using biomarkers and hydrogen isotopes 🌿🌎
It was great to see so many STEM enthusiastic high school students on campus last week for the @CurtinUni DISCOVER program 👨🔬👩🔬
We had a great time showing students our lab facilities, and our many amazing samples! @Geology_Ale@LM_Brosnan
Happy @Aus_ScienceWeek! Did you come down to anti-conference last weekend? We had a great time taking the audience back in time to check out some amazing fossil specimens and how geochemistry can be used to study them 🦖@inspiringaus@Geology_Ale@MadisonTripp_@LM_Brosnan
Check our researcher, Amy Elson (@Geology_Ale), teaching geology students at Nature’s Widow at Kalbarri National Park. The field trip was a great opportunity for undergraduate students to learn about the wonders of geology and explore the beauty of WA’s natural landscape
Check out the amazing view that the @waoigc team and @Curtin_TrEnD recently got to see at #SharkBay! Renowned for their exceptional stromatolites, the team sampled a mix of microbial mat types, coquina shells, and saline water which was twice as salty as the oceans. @Geology_Ale
We’ve got a new paper out on climate #TippingPoints in @ScienceMagazine: “Exceeding 1.5°C global warming could trigger multiple climate tipping points”

📢3 year PDRA at Southampton📢Ideal for candidates with expertise in biomarkers OR chironomids and an interest in Holocene paleoclimate. Includes 3-month secondment to DEFRA to engage with policymakers + fieldwork!
Closing Date: 04 August 2022.

Fun to work on this lake core with Maria Ramos-Roman, reconstructing Mid-Holocene climate change using both brGDGTs and pollen. Interesting cold event at 4.2 ka seen by both these independent proxies.
The Organic Geochemistry (@OrgGeochem_UOS) group at @OceanEarthUoS are advertising various NERC-funded PhD projects! Topics include paleoclimate and astrobiology. Deadline is 4th of January. See below for more details. Please RT!
A friendly heads-up!
⚠️*High tweet volume warning*⚠️starting today for #BlackInGeoscienceWeek.
We ask you to join us as we amplify our Black colleagues and their work in Earth and Planetary Science this week.
BOGS2021 has begun! Don't forget to tune in for Amy Elson's (@Geology_Ale) talk on Eocene hydrology at 15.20 and flash talks from Emily Hollingsworth (@emzyholl) and Gordon Inglis (@climategordon) on Eocene/PETM carbon cycling from 17.00! #BOGS2021
