@peta Just so people know,"head-shy" behavior is when a dog looks away or lowers its head while being around ANY person who has hurt or abused the animal. Even if said person is attempting to "be nice" to it while ATTEMPTING to appear kind. Dogs KNOW good actors from bad ! Vets also.

Almost everyone in the US is numb to the scale of French aid during the Revolution. Most know the name Lafayette. Almost no one grasps that France supplied the bulk of the arms, the money, the navy that trapped Cornwallis at Yorktown, and tens of thousands of troops. Without it, independence was unlikely. We remember the WWII liberation of France. We quietly forget the earlier, decisive French help that made America possible.
