Isn’t this just a flex on how amazing America is and our free market? Elon- and immigrant to the USA who came here with nothing, survived on Jack-in-the-box, was able to come to our country, the legal way, become a citizen, and build some of the most impactful and important companies ever to exist… now my car drives it self and the USA is not reliant on Russia to get astronauts to space… and he did this effectively where the value of the product is greater than the cost of their parts and labor.. so there is profit… and they are publicly traded so anyone has the opportunity to benefit. Mind blowing that this is somehow something that Bernie wants to shame instead of glorify- makes zero sense.
@MarcusHouse Hoping no raptor damage and quick turn around!
When the live stream jumps to the shot of the raptors my inner dialogue jumps to *marcus house voice* the Business end of the boosta” 😂 looking forward to your recap Saturday!
@mattvanswol Apparently it was Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Which happens to anyone, any age, any health level, at anytime. Only remedy is immediate defibrillation with an AED… the exact reason I founded @Archer_FRS 14 years ago and are flying AEDs to 911 calls today!
The meeting was made in error? Like they were adding a meeting in their Google Calendar and accidentally typed the wrong name on the invite? How does one accidentally schedule a meeting? The accidentally knocked a computer off the table and while trying to catch it inadvertently scheduled a meeting with a country trying to assassinate our president? Doesn’t sound like a “process” problem but a loyalty problem instead.
@elonmusk@kylaschwaberow Yup. In this case, the driver manually overrode self-driving by pressing the accelerator all the way to 100% of the accel pedal in this residential area. They reached a speed of 73 mph during the crash, and had the accelerator pressed even after the crash.
@SenWarren If the gov actually managed fraud & waste in existing programs, it would dwarf “taxing Musk.”
Medicare + Medicaid alone: ~$94B in improper payments last year. Total federal improper payments: $186B.
Musk’s hypothetical wealth tax bill? ~$35-36B.
Fix the leaks first before raiding productive wealth.
@elonmusk First time I’ve ever seen or heard @elonmusk talk about a novel alternate means of propulsion.
Would be needed to be out there “among the stars” … that or a Time Machine… tho I guess they are more or less the same thing.
@xai having issues adding credits. Payment processing confirmation button just stuck with spinning wheel. Tried on multiple browsers (chrome and safari) and same same. Any suggestions?
@SEANDURGIN This happened to me too! (On a smaller scale). Led to an embarrassing moment on a date when I didnt have access to our tickets. Spent the $ at the box office anyways to see the show…less good seats at 2x the price of the original. No fun.
Can we debunk this nonsense?
Elon Musk was awarded (note: not given) cost-per-result contracts to perform a service for the US government. The total of those for SpaceX specifically is ~$22B, which includes repaid loans, state tax incentives, etc.
The deal was simple: put stuff into LEO at or below a set cost. If SpaceX does it below the set cost, SpaceX keeps the difference. If it doesn’t, the company is responsible for the overrun.
End result? SpaceX & Elon lowered the cost of getting 1 kg into LEO by 95-97% vs what NASA was paying previously.
And for the record, every other company around at the time was offered the same opportunity to bid on the contract - Musk/SpaceX just took it.
The handout narrative implies the taxpayer is the patron and SpaceX the dependent. The cost data shows the opposite: before SpaceX, NASA paid Russia’s Soyuz $80-86M per seat; SpaceX delivered at ~$55 million. SpaceX saved the US taxpayer $300M-$465M each year on that alone (the US sends 12-15 astronauts to space each year)
On the lunar lander, NASA estimated SpaceX’s fixed-price bid saved $20B-$30B vs the Boeing-preferred cost-plus approach.
So: SpaceX saved the US taxpayer more than the total value of contracts it earned on a single project, PLUS provided the US government with the requested services (put stuff in LEO) at the best possible price.
FSD is like 99% of the reason you should get one in the first place. It is 100000000% worth it.
Model Y is one the best selling cars globally for a reason. Base model is still fast AF, solid range (but range is a non-issue with the super charger network), ample storage space, comfortable, sits up higher than model 3, kick ass sound system. Model Y performance is awesome it’s faster AF with all the other perks + bigger rims, nice carbon fiber spoiler + tighter performance suspension (sits about 1” lower than base model Y). Regardless of which model you choose you’ll ask yourself why anyone would by any other car after driving it for a week.
