I think this is probably one of the best and most important posts on X that I’ve ever read. It’s criticism of French “degrowth” but I think applies as much to the UK and EU.
Medium term we will fade even further as a power, our people will be relatively even poorer and militarily we’ll be unable to defend ourselves.
There’s a debate going on in the Labour Party at the moment which wouldn’t begin to grok such facts - to be fair I think few other UK parties do too and that matches public opinion. It’s like the public popularity of Appeasement pre-WWII.
Christ this data is so grim:
"The troubling decline in conscientiousness. A critical life skill is fading out — and especially fast among young adults."
@Madz_Grant Well spotted and I’ve sent him an “inmail” - only connections can comment. I’m sure he’s a talented chap but he understands only the “hardware” not the “software” of wealth and growth. That’s quite normal for economists sadly.

No forms. No fluff.
The answer is pedestrian crossings on bike paths as well as roads - crossing the full span. The Netherlands does it and the idea that more bicycles means bad news for the disabled is loopy. Cars kills 2000x more than bikes and regularly kill pedestrians on the pavement. Your post is sophistry.
I know we shouldn't be nationalist about startups, but it's so pleasing to see @wayve_ai doing such great things in AI and autonomous driving.

@MattWalshBlog Wartime leaders often choose to wear uniform to show that they fight alongside the troops. Are you criticising Churchill and should his bust be removed from the Oval Office for showing disrespect?
It seems odd to say the least, that on the day the @bbc apologised for using a child of a Hamas leader in a supposedly objective documentary, that they report the parading of a mother and children's bodies on a Hamas stage as "Israel receives bodies of four hostages held by Hamas in Gaza" and the @guardian similarly "Remains of four hostages, including mother and two children, returned to Israel".
Both organisations pride themselves on their passion for the "truth" but seem oddly shy of the "truth" about Hamas.
Has there ever before been an organisation so evil that it actually stages public triumphs over children's bodies?
@BellaWallerstei
Labour’s Schools Bill reverses two decades of progress. It is pure educational vandalism.
Bad for children. Bad for teachers. Bad for parents. Good for the trade unions.
It is the same old Labour: bad outcomes for all children, excellence for none. A tragedy in the making.
The work done by previous Conservative and Labour governments to improve education standards is under threat.
Keir Starmer’s government is going to put a wrecking ball through our education system 👇
Anyone interested in understanding the strangulating red tape and political inertia killing our capacity to build should read Foundations by @bswud@s8mb@SCP_Hughes. This is the brilliant essay I talked about on the bbc yesterday
