I'm starting off the year as Bloomberg's new creator economy reporter! I joined @Lucas_Shaw 's team and moved to LA - the birthplace of the creator economy. If you're a content creator, talent agent, startup or brand in the space, let's chat!
🎯 Ready to make 2025 the year you dominate?

🚨#BREAKING: Dutch Grown, a floral company in the Netherlands, has donated over 10,000 flower bulbs to transform a park in Swannanoa NC.
The company said,
"To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow. That belief is our gift to Swannanoa and everyone in Western North Carolina."
It's probably not the done thing to say but the media relations side of PR is most definitely more challenging since the rise of social media.
There are more factors at play than simply a strong story.
PR secret hack: reporters will search their inbox when looking for expert opinion on a subject they’re writing about. If you do a good job of inserting the right keywords in your pitch, you might still win a placement down the line (this has happened to me).
Nothing ever “went viral” just because it was posted at a certain time of the day, used a certain number of hashtags, said “please share," or any other number of social media "hacks."
If the content isn't compelling, all the algorithm hacks and tricks won't help you.
“Through #ACP, educators had a reliable digital conduit to students that would not only help them to remain better connected to students, but also help the students to become better immersed in a highly competitive digital world,"-@NatalieGreaves. https://t.co/ZUQA7XcpCQ
Yup.
Let's stop asking social media managers to do the work of--
-Content creators
-Community managers
-Digital strategists
-Data analysts
-Graphic designers
-Videographers
-Writers
-Photographers
-Pretty much a whole marketing team
all by themselves...
The biggest threat is not following your heart and instead operating in fear.
Congratulations to Victoria Monet and all creatives out there who took a leap of faith and stayed the course.

ATTENTION ✋
Here are some NEW rules you *must* know for Instagram...
I'm joking, there isn't any but there are some facts.
"IG won't push your content if you have a watermark" 👉 True, but this is a watermark of any kind not just TikTok or CapCut - the head of Instagram confirmed this a couple of week ago. It'll just be recommended less in Explore.
"The algorithm favours those who post to grid every day" 👉 As Adam Mosseri stated, there are "no magic rules" - your content has to be aligned with what you want to say and what you want to get out of Instagram. This could be posting once a month or twice a day.
"The algorithm favours vertical videos" 👉 Adam didn't debunk this but it's obviously optimal and better for user experience, but it doesn't necessarily mean your content will be favoured or pushed.
"Only use three hashtags, five tops" 👉 Hashtags won't significantly change your reach, according to Adam Mosseri, but it's good practice to use them when appropriate - do a handful, just don't use too many because it "probably annoys people".
"Optimise caption for search visibility" 👉 Yes this is good advice, and something you should implement across all social platforms where appropriate. Don't keyword stuff and make it natural.
"Algorithm favours those who use trending sounds" 👉 Your content has a chance of more visibility but it's not guaranteed - you need to be making good, solid content.
"Post at LEAST six Stories per day" 👉 Nothing at all to suggest this, Adam Mosseri said earlier this year about posting a couple of feed posts per week, and a couple of Stories per day to maximise visibility and engagement.
But what's more important than all this?
Finding what works for YOU and testing what works for YOU.
There's *lots* of so-called best practices, but there are SO many people and brands who create content that break ALL of the rules.
Don't believe everything you read on social media, do your own research and take it with a pinch of salt 💜
Last year I was doing a content-cation every quarter.
This meant traveling to Florida (for warmer weather) and creating 3 months worth of content (or as close as I could get to that) in 4 days.
This year, I am doing more "content weeks" instead.
Let me tell you why!
