This Austin car park got a solar upgrade. The panels not only shade vehicles they also power the building. Shouldn't every car park get a solar upgrade?
We have the solutions. Implement them. #ActOnClimate#climate#energy#renewables#EndFossilFuels
I’m super conscious that media people, the industry I come from, think it’s extreme to post and focus this much on climate change.
But science says this could potentially be catastrophic for the whole world.
There has never ever been a threat on this scale.
Even nuclear war - climate collapse in a worst case scenario, scientists say, would take significantly longer to recover from, potentially thousands of years.
How can it be that so few media folk understand, care, engage or speak about this?
Reasons not to build cities:
- loss of farmland & great landscapes
- damage to nature
- further stress in water-stressed regions
- increased unsustainable transport
- most expensive way to build - 100% new infrastructure necessitated

Day 6 Report: At #COP17, delegates made progress on biodiversity mainstreaming, protected areas and the Global Biodiversity Framework review, but key disagreements persisted over biodiversity finance, benefit-sharing, and the integration of biodiversity and climate action.
Recommendation for Nigeria: Nigeria should strengthen interministerial coordination, increase investment in biodiversity conservation, and integrate ecosystem-based adaptation, gender equality and community participation into national and subnational climate and biodiversity plans.
When was the last time you saw a young baobab tree in a nursery or growing in the wild?
We are losing the population of this beautiful superfood tree and that's a threat to our future.
Join us let's replenish this #tree and restore its #ecosystem@1_billiontrees

In a warming, crowded city, every patch of green matters. Cabinet’s decision to keep Constitutional Square a protected heritage site is a step toward a cooler, more liveable Kampala. Heritage and climate resilience go hand in hand. 🌍 #ClimateAction#UrbanGreenSpaces
One reason why most farmers or gardeners today avoid "manure" is because it smells and is unhygienic.
But when well prepared, manure [or compost] is quite safe and smells earthy.
It's carbon and microbe-rich and holds moisture wonderfully.

I’m so proud of Brazil. This election literally saved the planet. Lula’s commitment to stopping deforestation of the Amazon can and will slow climate change. Not to mention the way people were mobilized. People were in canoes to go vote! The power of the people is so beautiful.
Communities must be at the heart of flood preparedness. With timely information and resources, they can act early to protect their families, homes and livelihoods.
At GREDO, we remain committed to supporting community-led action that turns early warning into early action!

Some years ago, I moderated this session. A Bank had just announced 1 billion dollars for young people's climate businesses, and young people everywhere were asking: how do I get it?
One point came out, and Dr Dr. Olufunso Somorin of the Bank made it clean. A bank does not take an idea from zero to one. It takes it from two to five. Put your skin in the game, show results, then the money helps you scale.
Today, at United Nations University Institute for Natural Resources in Africa (@UNUINRA ) the research and policy institute for Africa's natural resources, our research is how young people show those results.
Here is the gap that point hides. Many young Africans running a solar dryer, a briquette yard or a plastic buying point already have results. What they lack is a record a lender can read.
So we build that record. Young people send a card every week: what they bought, what they sold, at what price, and who they paid. We count the jobs each business creates against the legal minimum wage, and read it again every year.
The record comes first. The money follows.
Africa is not poor. Africa is uncounted.
Communities cannot prepare effectively when they lack resources, information or a voice in decisions. Climate resilience requires investment in local adaptation, ecosystem protection and accessible social protection.
