Our planet is sending us signals.
Too wet. Too dry. Too hot.
But listen, listen again.
Do you hear something else?
This #WorldEnvironmentDay, we turn the volume up on the urgent signals the Earth is sending and how, together, we can act #NowForClimate.

In Uganda, you carry 50,000 shillings in one proud note, yellow & powerful. You walk into a kiosk, and even the flies make way. People look at you like, “Eh! Omugaga atuuse!”
But then you cross over to Kenya, expecting to maintain your VIP status only to find that same 50k has been humbled to 1,900 bob. Just like that! You go from “big spender” to “can I get a packet of milk and maybe a bread?”
Then comes Tanzania ah, sweet redemption! You exchange your 50k UGX and boom 36,000 Tanzanian shillings! The wallet is fat again, and you're back to buying soda, snacks, and still asking, “Ni bei gani kama nimechukua mbili?” The shopkeeper calls you mzee wa pesa, and you smile like someone who owns land near the source of the Nile.
One note, three countries three personalities! East Africa, why are you like this?
The most underrated act of kindness is simply letting people be. Let them mispronounce a word, talk too much about a show they love, or get excited about something you don't quite understand. Everyone has something that lights them up, let them shine, even if it's not your thing.
China built the world’s manufacturing floor with vocational schools, not universities. 35 million students are enrolled in technical training right now. Their graduates get hired before they finish school.
We built grammar schools instead.
A bricklayer who understands laterite, a carpenter who can carve and turn wood, a potter who knows clay, a weaver who works cane and bamboo, a mason who reads soil; these are not lesser educated people. These are the people who physically build a country.
Our universities produce architects who cannot read a construction site. Engineers who have never mixed a material. Graduates fluent in theory and lost on the ground.
Vocational training should not come after university. It should come before it. Let every student learn to build something, make something, fix something before they are allowed to theorize about it.
The hand that knows what it is doing will always outbuild the mind that only read about it.
Good morning Africa.
