@gmhales Unfortunately if it happens though, we all know we will see a reduction in VAWG. It won't be a genuine reduction, it will be figure fudging for promotional purposes.
Today, give yourself the most simple and doable of tasks: just don't make stuff worse.
Whatever happens, don't add angry or negative emotions to the equation. Don't react for the sake of reacting. Leave it as it is. Stop digging. Then plan your way out.
With half of what’s bouncing around in my head I think it’s better I stay off Twitter today. I will simply say how proud I am of the job I do, the people I work with and the organisation I work for. #Police
The Government’s lack of respect for policing is backing officers into a corner on pay. Our Chair Rachel Hanley has been speaking as the @PFEW_HQ announced it would be seeking a 17% pay rise for police officers this year. https://t.co/JKB1HbDxyy #FairPayForPolice
@LessCrime Should be a basic part of being promoted past Supt to demonstrate leading EBP research. We are so lacking in evidence for most of our basic practice...
Shit me if American policing can afford to do large scale EBP work why can't we? No appetite because EBP ruins promotion prospects by forcing leaders to prove their success with peer reviewed evidence rather than skewed data...every initiative is always a success etc...
Did you know that in 2015, @PhillyPolice ran the largest experiment in predictive policing there had ever been?
And it found that targeted marked police cars reduced property crime by 31%, as well as in the subsequent 8-hour shift? And crime came down in the districts?
Yeah! 🧵
If all police officers HAVE to HAVE degrees I'd rather they joined with them and at least provide a diversity of subjects than make them all do PCDA. At least we could then send them all to a proper training school not university #degreegate
Buried in WhatsApp conversations between then-prime minister Boris Johnson, his scientific advisers and Dominic Cummings, is an exchange which is arguably even more worrying than this headline-grabbing stories.
Johnson's fundamental maths mistake...

Government have released their "Nationally Significant Infrastructure action plan"
🏗️ It's a plan to speed up planning rules for infrastructure projects such as nuclear power stations, airports, and wind farms.
But... is it any good?🧵
@AVintenAuthor I don't think anyone would have anticipated the public being annoyed with the response. It was a nice gesture and it was recognised. That's it. Some folks will find criticism for anything policing does, which makes it harder to acknowledge legitimate, constructive criticism.
Perfect example of worst of what has happened in parts of media around the sensitive & complex search for Nicola Bulley
Superintendent Smith is a detective so doesn’t wear uniform. She’s also more on her mind than what a clickbait journalist thinks of her choice of office wear.
Huge mobilisation of far-right protestors outside a hotel for asylum-seekers in Knowsley, just outside of Liverpool. They've now set fire to a police van.
This was taken in the last hour:
@dyslexicsarge A physical institution equivalent to Sandhurst instills values as much as knowledge. Management useless without leadership - its indicative of our current leadership crisis that we have senior management teams not senior leadership teams.
I think one of the things policing lacks is a Sandhurst style center for leadership. Running courses for Sgt+ nationally. Could be mandatory intro courses at each rank. Certainly after I passed my exam I never got taught anything formally about how to be a leader...
