Hard to capture the sheer volume of people at Queen’s Park today for the immense education picket line.
30,000 education workers and allies all walking en masse in solidarity: it was powerful stuff. 🚩✊

I'm as upset as the rest of Ontario by what we learned in today's Auditor General report.
But the fact that Ford spent millions on private consultants for his non-plan for schools while refusing to fund smaller classes or consult with frontline workers?
I'm livid. #onted
For the folks still waiting/ wanting to jump on the anti-racist education train: it cannot & will not wait until after you've "figured out this COVID thing". The 2 pandemics are linked & must be addressed by educators simultaneously.
What y'all waiting on?

BREAKING: "Ont schools have been ordered to remain closed from March 14 to April 5, 2020. We recognize the significant impact this decision will have on families, students, schools, as well as the broader community, but this precaution is necessary to keep people safe." #onted
The Ford Conservatives have bungled the math test they imposed on teacher candidates.
It’s unacceptable and unfair.
@Sflecce needs to address this urgently. #onpoli#onted
For months our kids’ education has been in jeopardy...
👉But nothing changed until they were SHAMED by their own buried public consultation.
I don’t trust this announcement one bit
The minister needs to move away from the podium and reverse all cuts!

@ericjdunnett @DisneyFamJam @MsADeJong @sagittarius1958 With the latest class size and funding proposal:
Thousands would still lose their jobs.

And for support staff, instead of 2k being laid off, maybe 1k lose their jobs? And they still do not have a liveable wage.
HAPPENING NOW:
Thousands of teachers surround Queen's Park Circle protesting the Ford government during a provincewide strike.

The @tdsb e-learning survey findings:
- 87% of students don’t want mandatory e-learning
- 81% of parents don’t want mandatory e-learning
- 97% of secondary school teachers don’t support the plan
Listen to “the people” @Sflecce.

I'm used to the cut and thrust of Question Period, but when the Minister said his priority was 'creating a safe learning environment for kids with special needs'... I couldn't let that fly.

Everything #DougFord touches in #education is a disaster.
Some teacher candidates have travelled for hours to write their math proficiency test, only to be told that their scheduled time has been cancelled and they are now on a waitlist..
#onted#RedForEd
An #Onted recipe for disaster only #Ford could concoct:
🥣take one 1/2-baked idea
🧪add 1 new $140k year EQAO chair
🥄mix w complete chaos
🍰serve it all up to private sector to make $$$
🤷🏼♀️leave future of 1000s of teacher candidates at risk!

The next time @Sflecce trumpets his government's funding of education, remember that the province will only kick in $292 million in 2019-20 to the $3.5 billion in repairs needed in TDSB schools. #cutshurtkids#NoCutsToEducation#onpoli

Public education funding is an investment in our collective future. Toronto firefighters support all who are speaking up to defend quality public education in Ontario. In solidarity… ✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿✊ #NoCutsToEducation#CanLab
