We’ve established the largest and most comprehensive sickle cell disease longitudinal registry in Uganda, currently operating in 4 regional referral hospitals with more to come, to support data-driven research efforts in the area.

This registry is already supporting several key cohort studies in newborn screening, pain management, and the evaluation of hydroxyurea and penicillin prophylaxis, etc. The data collected is consistent with other SPARCO consortium countries such as Nigeria, Tanzania, Ghana, Zambia, and Zimbabwe and will enable robust African-wide analyses.
