@NAEP_NCES civics & history results will be released tomorrow, and we'll hear a lot of commentary from the field. How can we build on that attention to develop a more comprehensive approach to assessment? My @AIRInforms colleague Corey Savage & I share a few ideas.
As we await the results of the 2023 @NAEP_NCES assessment, AIR's @hamiltonlauras and Corey Savage discuss how #evidence can inform policy and practice that helps teachers and students engage with #history and #civics.

Making a rare visit to Twitter to let folks know about several open positions at @AIRInforms for research and technical assistance in our Human Services division. If you share our commitment to generating and using evidence to improve lives, see https://t.co/u5QqzHDBti
"Academic learning is inherently social and emotional, and integrating all those aspects can effectively promote whole-child development."
But, the panel we convened @caselorg@UrbanAssembly@vupeabody@CurryEdu noted this is rarely happening w intention/coordination.
Thanks for the shout-out, @FutureEdGU! I've been off Twitter for a bit but wanted to take a moment to thank my new @AIRInforms colleagues for their warm welcome. I'm looking forward to some great collaborations. I'll continue to follow the work of the excellent @ETSresearch team
Interested in a career in policy research? Check out this terrific thread about @RANDCorporation. I agree with everything @MelanieZaber wrote and continue to be grateful for my 23 (!) years there.
PhD students often ask me about the culture at RAND--how is it different from academia, other think tanks, and industry?
Caveating that I've only interviewed at these other places...my assessment, triangulated with colleagues:
Agree, results are concerning and point to a need to clarify what "civic education" means & who is responsible for teaching it. (also, great example of the value of @RANDCorporation's American Educator Panels for highlighting teachers' perspectives @mkdiliberti @juliahkaufman)
Important thread by top HS government teacher and @GovBoard member, @plkelly27. Patrick, I was shocked by the 25% number too. It's as if only 25% of biology teachers thought it was important to teach natural selection. Oh, wait...😢
Visited my daughter & friends at @EmoryUniversity's family weekend and was inspired by students' enthusiasm for the upcoming election. Some thoughts about how education can support #civic engagement among young people @ETSresearch: https://t.co/vGO3JsuCUb
Read about a new partnership between @ETSinsights and MetaMetrics, Inc. to connect ETS’s #ReadBasix Assessment to #Lexile Framework for reading. Special shout-out to the @ETSresearch colleagues who contributed! https://t.co/rdHrLRs0xq
Why is Monday’s “NAEP Day” so important? Don’t we already know about “learning loss” after our @CRPE_edu report and the September 1 @NAEP_NCES release? Here are three reasons why NAEP Day matters. 🧵1/

NAEP summer internships are posted for undergraduate and graduate students. See the below links to apply to work with @ETSresearch staff for the summer. #internship#intern
Fabulous opportunity for grad students who want to experience life at a policy research org. I started my career in policy research as a @RANDcorporation summer associate, and I can't think of a better introduction to the field. Check it out!
As the director of the @RANDCorporation's Summer Associate Program, I'm excited to invite all doctoral students interested in affecting change through policy research to APPLY TODAY. I look forward to getting to know all of you. Deadline: Dec 1 https://t.co/1sVqwRfOlC
