🚨 Fano captures Mehal Meda Town mayor and militia office chief in Menz Gera Woreda, North Shewa Zone, Amhara Region

On October 17, 2026, Fano forces under the AFNM Shewa General Command’s Asaminew 5th Command captured two Abiy regime officials in Mehal Meda Town, Menz Gera Woreda, North Shewa Zone, Amhara Region. The captured officials were identified as Mayor Getacher Baysasahu and Militia Office Chief Ayalew Tassew.

The two officials were captured while attempting to escape the town, which is currently under Fano control. Regime forces attempted to facilitate their escape by deploying heavy weapons, but the operation was repelled by Fano fighters.

Fano has called on remaining regime officials, militia members, riot-control personnel, and police officers to surrender.
