"Until today, I cannot believe that I’m still alive. I have experienced loss, and loss is horrific, no human being can truly imagine. I swear not a single day passes without remembering my colleagues over and over," said Asaad Al-Nassasra, a volunteer with the @PalestineRCS, as he remembers the eight PRCS volunteers who lost their lives on March 23, 2025 while saving others.

Even in the most complex contexts, the rules are clear:
Civilians must be protected.
Humanitarians must be protected.
Health services must be protected.

Since the first minutes of the emergency, the @Iranian_RCS has mobilized its nationwide network of volunteers and staff to support people affected.

Iranian Red Crescent building in Mahabad sustained damage following recent hostilities. In addition, 11 Iranian Red Crescent Society branches and rescue bases have been damaged across the country, and 3 relief vehicles and ambulances in Tehran have been taken out of service due to damage.

We reiterate our call for unwavering respect for the Red Cross and Red Crescent emblems.

Humanitarian workers and facilities are #NotATarget.

في 12 فبراير/شباط 2026، نظّمت جمعية الهلال الأحمر المصري، بالتعاون مع اليونيسف والاتحاد الدولي، تدريبًا وطنيًا حول الصحة العامة في حالات الطوارئ، بهدف تعزيز جاهزية وقدرات الاستجابة لدى الموظفين والمتطوعين في مختلف أنحاء #مصر.

وأبدى المشاركون رضاهم بشكل كبير عن التدريب، لا سيما فيما يتعلق بجودة التيسير، وملاءمة المحتوى، والجلسات العملية. كما شكّلت تمارين المحاكاة والسيناريوهات التطبيقية من أبرز مكونات التدريب، نظرًا لإسهامها في تعزيز ثقة المشاركين بقدرتهم على التدخل الفعّال خلال حالات الطوارئ.

On 12 February 2026, the @EG_Red_Crescent, in collaboration with @UNICEFmena and the @ifrc, conducted a National Training on Public Health in Emergencies to strengthen the preparedness and response capacities of staff and volunteers across #Egypt.

Participants expressed very high satisfaction, particularly regarding the quality of facilitation, the relevance of the content, and the practical sessions.

Simulation and scenario based exercises were highlighted as the most valuable components, contributing to increased confidence in emergency deployment readiness.

"The First Aid World Cup – MENA Regional Qualifiers has officially begun this week. Eleven Red Cross Red CrescentNational Societies from the MENA region are competing across three First Aid challenges—innovation, scenario-based response, and public awareness campaigns.

Only one winning National Society for each challenge will advance to the global finals to compete with qualifiers from other @IFRC region.

Today, I had the privilege of welcoming, HE Dr Mohammed Al Hadid, the President of the Jordan Red Crescent Society @_JNRCS to our regional office in Beirut. We discussed regional & global developments, and the needs for action to promote peace and access to people in need. Listening to him describe the care and dignity given to medical evacuees from #Gaza and their families at the Jordan Red Crescent Hospital was deeply moving. This is the impact of true humanitarian partnership. With the continued generosity of our donors, the @ifrc remains committed to supporting the @_JNRCS as it cares for people affected by the protracted Middle East crisis.

From 8–11 Dec, a landmark Mass Casualty Management Regional Training brought together 32 participants from 13 MENA National Societies to strengthen our collective response to mass casualty incidents.

This training laid the foundation for Red Cross Red Crescent National Societies to develop their plans for managing mass casualty incidents.

Training facilitated by IFRC, Norwegian Red Cross, German Red Cross & ICRC, and hosted by Qatar Red Crescent.

من 8 إلى 11 ديسمبر/كانون الأوَّل، جمع تدريب إقليمي محوري حول إدارة الإصابات الجماعية 32 مشاركًا من 13 جمعية وطنية في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا، بهدف تعزيز قدراتنا المشتركة في الاستجابة لهذه الحوادث. وقد شكّل هذا التدريب نقطة انطلاق لتمكين الجمعيات الوطنية للصليب الأحمر والهلال الأحمر من تطوير خططها لإدارة حوادث الإصابات الجماعية.
تم تنفيذ التدريب بدعم من الاتحاد الدولي لجمعيات الصليب الأحمر والهلال الأحمر، والصليب الأحمر النرويجي، والصليب الأحمر الألماني، واللجنة الدولية للصليب الأحمر، واستضافته جمعية الهلال الأحمر القطري.

الدكتور هيثم قوصة، رئيس فريق الصحة والرعاية الإقليمي في الاتحاد الدولي لجمعيات الصليب الأحمر والهلال الأحمر لمنطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا، أدار الجلسة الرابعة: من الإنذار المبكر إلى الاستجابة المبكرة في جامعة الدول العربية، والتي ركّزت على ربط أنظمة الإنذار المبكر بجهود الجاهزية والاستجابة الميدانية بشكل فعّال.

وجمعت الجلسة خبراء إقليميين ودوليين لمناقشة أهمية العمل الاستباقي، والإدارة الشاملة للمخاطر بمشاركة جميع فئات المجتمع، إضافة إلى تعزيز التعافي المرن بعد الكوارث للحد من آثارها وحماية المجتمعات.

Dr. @HaythamQosa, Regional Head of the Health and Care Team at @ifrc MENA, moderated Session Four: From Early Warning to Early Response at the @arableague_gs, focusing on how early warning systems can be effectively linked to preparedness and on-the-ground response.

The session brought together regional and international experts to discuss proactive action, inclusive risk management, and resilient recovery approaches that help reduce disaster impacts and protect communities.
