Over 800 inmates at the Nairobi Remand and Allocation Maximum Security prison received free medical services over the weekend courtesy of the Dawoodi Bohra community in Kenya.
The medical outreach saw the inmates receive healthcare services that included specialized clinics in general medicine, dermatology, optical and dental services.
According to Correctional Services Principal Secretary Dr. Salome Beacco, the exercise was part of ongoing systemic reforms within the correctional system, that involves establishing tangible and impactful partnerships with stakeholders to ensure vulnerable people access the best medical care available.
“This strategic partnership demonstrates the power of partnership between Government and communities in advancing humane corrections and improving the lives of those entrusted to our care.” Observed the PS.
She said the holistic approach to offender rehabilitation and reformation is meant to ensure that correctional facilities progressively uphold good practice standards aligned with international norms and principles, including the Nelson Mandela Rules, Tokyo Rules, Beijing Rules, Bangkok Rules and the Kyoto Declaration on Advancing Crime Prevention, Criminal Justice and the Rule of Law (2021).
Among the health reforms the department is undertaking includes the registration of inmates with the Social Health Authority with the PS saying about 60 percent of those targeted have already been registered.
While pledging to support the department in its reformation agenda, Abdulqadir Zakir, the chief protocol officer of the Bohra community said the medical camp was part of the community giving back to society.
He said about 40 medical specialists were on hand to support those seeking services at the facility that boasts an average population of about 4,000 inmates.
During the medical clinic, at least 22 dental extractions were successfully conducted, 75 dental consultations undertaken while at least 7 patients had been identified as requiring cataract surgery and will require appropriate referral and follow-up
When I say Nairobi is regressing, I know exactly what I am talking about. This is not noise or exaggeration. It is documented reality, week after week for the past couple of years now.
When I keep calling out the four key culprits, @KURAroads, @047County, @KeNHAKenya and @ntsa_kenya it is because they are all part of this mess, whether through action, inaction, negligence or simply looking the other way. Despite the steady weekly documentation of the capital’s decline, nothing changes. No urgency. No accountability. No meaningful action.
It seems the cake did not do the trick for my brother Kinoti and his able team. Hopefully, we shall have to send them all a special gift very soon to celebrate their amazing hard work and brilliance.
I urge you to look at the pictures in this thread. They reveal exactly what I have been speaking about all along, the systematic collapse of public health, safety, dignity, law and order, and the plain destruction of what was once a beautiful city.
A capital city should not feel like a neglected dumping ground where disorder has become normal. Nairobi, the once proud Green City in the Sun, is being depleted before our very eyes and turned into one giant slum.

Typical goon day:
Wake up 5am.
Vuta bangi.
Eat last night's leftover ugali and sukuma for breakfast with black tea.
Get ferried to a nearby town in a bus with other goons.
Cause havoc at 12pm rally.
Run, get teargassed and pay your own way home with a deep gnash in the shin and bloodshot eyes.
Eat njugu and black tea with sweet potatoe at 5pm and bandage yourself.
Vuta bangi.
Peleka pesa ya goonism kwa bar, kula nyama na kachumbari.
Malizia siku kwa malaya.
Honoured an Iftar invitation hosted by the Dawoodi Bohra Community of East Africa in the Karen area of Nairobi, an evening that showcased the community's enduring values of family unity, education and social responsibility.
I commended their exceptional organisation and steadfast commitment to nurturing a morally upright and compassionate society. Their culture of unity and care for the vulnerable stands out as an example worth emulating.
Through their Project Rise initiative, the community continues to expand access to medical support, including plans to hold four major medical camps across different counties, a clear demonstration of their commitment to improving the well-being of Kenyans.
In keeping with the charitable essence of the Holy Month of Ramadhan, the community also donated 14 tonnes of food to drought-affected regions.
I flagged off the consignment, which will support 2,000 families over the next two weeks, reaffirming their dedication to service and humanity.
The Iftar was attended by prominent leaders including, EALA MP Hon. Suleiman Shahbal, Isiolo County Woman Rep. Hon. Mumina Bonaya, Lamu East MP Hon. Capt. Ruweida Mohammed, Kenya Red Cross Society Dr. Ahmed Idris, Ambassador Mahat Mohammed and FKF President Hussein Mohammed among others.
Dear Governors, Senator and MPs moreso Northern Kenya....from the archives ...Mzee Jomo Kenyatta aliwaona kutoka 18.

Well Mzee like any human moreso at independence with fragile African statehood he laid a strong foundation. He is on record asking the settlers not to leave upon independence but they were welcome to join rest of Kenyans.
Before I forget wachane kuzurura zurura Nairobi.... go back to your counties and serve the people.

We must learn to keep to our lanes in life. We must play the card we’ve been dealt with. I am in standstill jam at this time because lorries, trailers & Toyota Corollas drive on the right lane instead of the left lane. Right lane is for Range Rovers, Mercedes, Bugatti, Lamborghini … and on invitation, BMW, AUDI & Toyota Lexus. If we all obeyed traffic rules & keep to our lanes, life will be softer, peaceful & jam free.
