🩸On 3rd May 2023, the Meiteis in kuki dominated areas like Churachandpur, Moreh, Kangpokpi and Sugnu faced a highly organised ethnic cleansing. The painful incident left all the Meiteis shell shocked. Now, they remain homeless and dependent on meagre donations from well wishers.

🩸Manipur is home to multiple ethnic tribes and there has been no geographical separation amongst these tribes. The huge mass evacuation and displacement of hundreds of thousands of Meiteis and expropriation of their land since 3rd May is proof that the #Kuki_Zo community and the Chin #KukiMilitants predominately from Myanmar, seek to establish an ethnically homogenous kuki population in Manipur, and hence the brutality against the Meitei.

🩸The ultimate goal is to drive away the Meiteis out of Manipur and create “Kukiland” or “zalengam” , something that’s been on their agenda since decades. Many of the militant groups under SoO agreement were formed to realise this dream.

🩸The reports are horrific: unknown numbers of Meiteis have been killed and buried, entire families burned alive, villages set on fire, women raped and currently, farmers are facing the greatest challenge as bullets are showered upon them from hilltops with advanced weapons, injuring and killing many.

Remember @mirabai_chanu ? A Meitei from Manipur who went at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where she won the silver medal for India.

On 30th Sept, 2023, in the medal race she ended up hurting herself and bowed out with a fourth-place finish due to injury in her right thigh during warm-up.

As Shri Rajnath Singh, Hon'ble Union Defence Minister have conveyed that he have ordered the Indian Air Force to destroy the poppy fields, it is very much needed for the concerned authorities to carry out his instructions. As it can also be treated as part our State's War On Drugs campaign, I urge the Home Department of Manipur and Narcotics and Affairs of Border Department of Manipur to coordinate with the Indian Air Force and carry out Hon'ble Union Defence Minister's order to destroy the poppy fields at the earliest.
