Day 28 of my cybersecurity growth challenge
Today, I couldn't open the python because I was enroute to school...but I wasn't idle. I studied this cybersecurity manual which I saved some time back.
Looking forward to getting back to python tomorrow

Day 27 of my cybersecurity growth challenge π
Today, I also practiced the python essentials 2 course but didn't do much because I had a busy day and couldn't stay on my pc for long

Day 26 of my cybersecurity growth challenge π
Today, I began the python essentials 2 course on Cisco Netacad to further develop my efficiency in python.
Learnt all about modules and how to use them effectively

Day 25 of my cybersecurity growth challenge π
Today, I officially passed the Python Essentials 1 course and attained the certificate. Faced it with a clear and open mind and took each code one at a time π
Scripts? One step closer π

Environment Variables (Normal Linux Stuff You Use Without Thinking)
A lot of things on Linux work quietly in the background, and environment variables are one of them. You donβt always see them, but they affect how commands run, where programs are found, and how your system behaves. Once you notice them, a lot of βwhy is this working like this?β questions start making sense.
In the terminal below, I am checking environment variables that already exist on the system. I look at my current user, my home directory, and the PATH variable to see where Linux searches for commands. I also create a temporary variable just to show how you can set and read your own values during a session.
This is very normal Linux usage. Youβre not hacking anything or doing advanced admin work, youβre just understanding what the shell already knows about you and your system. When this clicks, troubleshooting and setup become much easier because you know where Linux is getting its information from.
Checking Who You Are and What You Can Access
A lot of Linux confusion starts when people forget that the system treats users differently. Two people can run the same command and get completely different results simply because of ownership, groups, or permissions. Before assuming something is broken, the smart thing is to confirm who you are on the system and what level of access you actually have.
In the terminal below, I am checking my current user, the groups attached to that user, and then testing access to a protected file. I first confirm my identity, then verify whether I belong to any privileged group, and after that I try reading a file that regular users normally cannot open. This is the normal way to understand whether a problem is really a system issue or just an access issue.
This is one of those small Linux habits that saves time immediately. Instead of guessing why a command failed, you verify your user context first. Once that becomes normal to you, permissions start making much more sense and troubleshooting becomes cleaner.
LASU dump is now out for sale and it was initially listed at $6k but now the price has gone up to $15k, this contains both students and Lectures information like (Names, mails, reg numbers, password, home addresses e.t.c)

Day 24 of my cybersecurity growth challenge π
Spent the whole day on the move and ended it with the exam intake despite been exhausted.
Long story short: I failed again. It hurts, not going to lie, but Iβm not done. We go again until I get it. π€πͺ

Day 23
I progressed on the course today and attempted the PE course but got below the pass mark tonight.
I would be attempting it tomorrow again with a fresh mind. Maybe I'm being worked up from the stress of today.
Looking forward to sharing my certificate here tomorrow π
