Using baby talk towards an older adult is ageist and patronizing. Even if it is intended in a kind manner it is degrading. An example of ageist baby talk is calling older people "cute".

@Davis65949925 I absolutely agree!! Age-inclusive imagery is incredibly important. Older faces and voices need to be represented in media. #AdvocacyInAging24
Today is the last day of Women's History Month. Older women and especially older women of color face unique discrimination from intersectionality. What is one way you can advocate for the older women in your life?
#AdvocacyInAging24
@jpowel91 Compassionate ageism is condescending and frustrating to witness. People who are older should not be spoken to in baby language or be infantilized just because they are in an older body. #AdvocacyInAging24
@agingadvocate17 I hear jokes about "old people problems" often. Language like this allows for harmful stereotypes to become a norm. People of all ages suffer from chronic pain and diseases.

@annasanadvocate This tweet is disgusting. You do not define anyone else's success but your own and you are never too "old" for ANYTHING. During International Women's Month, we will support successful women and call out sexist and ageist language.

This week I came across a tweet that discussed how Anne Hatheway did not look a day over 20 even though she is 41 years old. Let's stop commenting on women's bodies with ageist remarks.

@agingcass His story was so powerful! He has so many different intersecting identities that resulted in such a complicated web of isolation and discrimination.

This week in class we emphasized the need to change our language from "people suffering from dementia" to "people living with dementia". Person-first language is so important!!

@activeagingdoc I think an essential strategy that hospitals can take is making sure that staff members are fully trained to meet the unique needs of patients with dementia.

This week in class we discussed how listening and including the voices of individuals from all ages and backgrounds increases diversity.
#AdvocacyinAging24
@agingadvocate17 I absolutely agree! Opinions on aging are different based off of the culture and part of the world people grow up in.

@annasanadvocate Gray hair is so beautiful! I would be so excited for the person who sent me this. Let's break the stigma around discussing signs of aging.

@sarah_e_tesar This is so powerful! I hope that as I age I become comfortable with all of these things. Thank you for sharing this quote with us.

@agingcass Before this class, I did not think about the role that age plays in intersectionality. We need to advocate for age to be included in discussions about intersectionality in our classes and professions. #AdvocacyInAging24
This week in class we presented on ageism in media. I shared about the use of young models for "anti-wrinkle" or "anti-aging" skincare. If a company is going to market a product for older women, they should use models that represent them.

@activeagingdoc I love this idea! Intergenerational collaboration allows for connections to be made that reduce bias and stereotyping. Do you know of any intergeneration initiatives in our community?
#AdvocacyInAging24
@agingcass I absolutely agree! Ageism is the most overlooked form of discrimination. Let's continue to amplify the dialogue and advocate for changes to be made.
