The local government system of Bangladesh is perplexing to me. Why are directly elected public representatives subject to the control of a single ministry? Hundreds of municipalities, city corporations, Upazila Porishod councillors, and mayors/chairmen are directly elected by the public. Yet, a few corrupt bureaucrats and a single minister (elected government) have the authority to dismiss and administer oaths. This is an area of reform that the interim government appears to be unaware of, despite its comprehensive knowledge of the history of Rajshahi, Gazipur, and many other city corporations. In this instance, it appears to be merely a continuation of the previous regime.

Today is 7th January, 2024. It's 1am in #Bangladesh. Another midnight election just began there in the name of national election. Sheikh Hasina's partymen has already started stamping the ballots.

Last time they were able to stamp 60% of the total votes during the midnight before the election. This time too, seeing the reluctance of voters to participate in the one-sided farcical election, her partymen are stamping the ballots.

Bangladeshi Private universities are planning to include @chattra_league. This is absolutely bonkers and will hamper the education quality. Introducing corruption and losing the system will not lead to good results.
