According to the @HemantSorenJMM govt, 74% of the 20,040 currently jailed inmates are undertrials. Most of them are Adivasis, Dalits, backwards or elderly. Even though the ruling parties had promised action on releasing undertrials in their manifesto, it is yet to happen.
A recent CAG Audit report on Himachal Pradesh (State Finances) for the year 2019-20 states that during the year, Rs 1660.72 crore was transferred by MoEF, GoI to state compensatory afforestation fund. Balance in Himachal State CAF as on 31st March 2020 was Rs 1660.72 crore.
