@ShaveEmily It almost seems as if Canadian artists have to work a bit harder than American artist to get their music out there. Canada just doesn't have as much influence on the music industry. #POPMUSW22
@fa_warford I think you make a really fair point. Not many people listen to the radio nowadays, most of the music I listen to comes from the ones I already have downloaded. So the exposure wouldn't really be as effective. #POPMUSW22
I think the idea of enforcing a quota on Canadian content is a good idea. It doesn't really bring any harm and its a great way to bring exposure to Canadian artists in an industry thats dominated by America. #POPMUSW22
@zoe_polymath I agree, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic and not being able to see artist live at concert, I'm more eager now at the chance of seeing my favourite artists performing. #POPMUSW22
@EmberDevison I agree, concert locations and costs of going to live performances have increased, but sometimes the experience is worth the expenses, especially to see your favourite artists live, it's a memorable experience. #POPMUSW22
Technologies such as auto-tune provide artists with creative devices to make new music. The issue with auto-tune in recordings though is that it is difficult to recreate live. People go to live shows expecting to hear the same thing which is not always the case. #POPMUSW22
I see where Wald is coming from, though I think there's a separate experience when it comes to live music that you simply can't get listening to recordings. Many artists just have great stage presence which makes listening to them live much more enjoyable. #POPMUSW22
@JennaleeRalph Not only is there no quality, there's no talent from the white artists that are responsible for stealing the music. None of it's authentic and true. Its simply culture theft that was used to make profit and take advantage of African-American music and culture. #POPMUSW22
@CFloden02 Exactly, they would look down at African-American culture and their music but then steal their music and change it to benefit them. The issue is it still happens today, especially with the topic of culture appropriation. #POPMUSW22
The term shlock makes sense in describing the music stolen by African-American artists and changed so that it could appeal to younger audiences, which lacked the talent and authenticity of the original music. The term degrades the music for its cultural theft. #POPMUSW22
@dchicasduena For sure! his upbringing and struggles in life have a huge impact on how he expresses himself through music, that's what allows his music to be enjoyed by such a large audience. #POPMUSW22
@JennaleeRalph It was defintely a technique that was unique to him at that time which is definitely what made him stand out as he didn't do things the same as every other artist. #POPMUSW22
Ray Charles has a very unique and distinguishable voice. By using a breaking voice he adds character and style to his music. It signifies to me that he wants to show his passion and emotion through his music in a style that is representing of him. #POPMUSW22
@CFloden02 Air pods have indeed been influential. Back when they first came out I used to think they were only for people who were very rich. Now almost everyone has a pair including myself. #POPMUSW22
@JennaleeRalph I don't use Spotify, but knowing the music I listen to, I highly doubt I would share my Spotify wrapped on social media like many others do just because I would be too embarrassed to show the kind of music I enjoy, worried about others judging me for it. #POPMUSW22
