Today, a friend of mine, a fellow comrade, reverse-called me. He had just finished his exams last week and needed fare to travel home. He asked if I could send him KSh 300.
I ended up sending him KSh 1,000 instead.
The moment he received the money, he immediately reverse-called me to say thank you. I jokingly asked, “Why didn’t you just use part of the money to buy airtime and call me?”
He replied, “No, I still have Okoa Jahazi. If I use it, it’ll interfere with the service.”
I understood him.
One thing I genuinely appreciate is gratitude. It doesn’t matter whether the help is big or small, when someone takes a moment to say “thank you,” it means a lot. It shows humility, appreciation, and respect.
Sadly, not everyone is like that. Some people receive help repeatedly and eventually begin to act as though they’re entitled to it, never taking a moment to appreciate the person who stood by them.
Gratitude costs nothing, but it means everything.
You look at the noise being made by Africans claiming Arsenal to be their club and you quickly understand why we were easily colonized. Have you ever seen the white Londoners celebrating Kipchoge Keino?
I agree with Polo Kimani that the white man football is the real evidence of neocolonialism.
Africans can even kill their brothers in the name of a place called Zubimendi.
